If you haven’t tried Mamma G’s yet, you’re missing out on some truly special Italian food. Highly recommend!
Congratulations on the expansion and continued success! ❤️
OMG what a great experience! It was as if I was transported to my Nonna’s kitchen ~ the tripe was perfectly tender and the sauce was delicious with it … then I stumbled onto a seafood special that was not only crazy good, but there was enough seafood for two dinners ! (Did I mention the pasta was homemade ) Half came home along with homemade dessert and meatballs to go that I nibbled on and fell in love with …
So for me and my Fiancé it was like going to heaven. Already talking about going back to work our way through the menu…
And the prices were very very reasonable… and the service was excellent !!!
We ended up arriving a couple minutes late (group of 6) and were seated quickly. All went ok through the process (drinks, ordering and salad) until it came time to have the entrees delivered. From the time we received our salad to when our entrees arrived was a good 50 minutes to an hour. All tables around us who ordered well after us were served their orders prior to us.All dishes were lukewarm at best. Sauce was nothing more than a can of crushed tomatoes poured over the pasta. The pasta wasn’t drained properly and the sauce was diluted and had little flavor. My son’s pasta with beef reminded me of hamburger helper but didn’t taste nearly as good as that. My son’s girlfriend had pasta with a meat sauce it ended up being pasta with canned crushed tomatoes with a tiny clump of meat buried in the pasta. My wife’s braciole was flavorless with canned crushed tomatoes over the top. My raviolis weren’t properly drained and floating in pasta water I had also added chicken to this dish and for $6 got about five little pieces of cut up chicken that was cold. Tasteless sauce diluted and inedible. All in all one of the worst meals I have ever had out to eat! My daughter had fettuccini alfredo with shrimp and said it was ok although not very hot. Her husband had Veal Parmesan with a very little piece of cheese melted over the cutlet then saturated in canned crushed tomatoes. We were never asked how the food was and it never dawned on our waitress that there was something wrong when everyone of us ate very little of our meals and loaded up to go containers. i tried to privately email management to avoid putting this out to the public with no response. So excited to give this a try and very disappointed to say the least. Never again!
Saturday 2/28
The menus at the table did not match, some were missing a page/ripped pages or the wrong menu altogether.
One round of drinks: 30 minutes for half the party’s drinks to come out. Sold out of the wine that was ordered 30 minutes ago. Another 30 minutes later, after approaching the bar, learn the other drinks are also “out”. One hour to get a drink.
The atmosphere is strangely modern for the menu and for salads to arrive with plastic cups of dressing.
3 of the main courses arrive while the other 4 wait. 3 more plates come 5-10 minutes later. My plate comes after another 5-10 minutes.
Little to no acknowledgement from our server. It was birthday dinner.
The food was fine – not outstanding, but good.
Look I’ve worked in restaurants, both front and back of house. I understand what it’s like to be slammed and have an expo full of tickets, and some things are going to be slow for guests. How you deal with it as a server and/or manager makes or breaks your reputation. Acknowledge the inconvenience, comp the drink mishaps, hold the plates at expo until all are ready to be ran. It would have gone a long way to have a manager come and address the situation with our table. Instead, we got treated like this is normal.
Won’t be going back – and not because they just had a busy night where they looked understaffed. It’s because I didn’t feel like anyone cared about the guests, and that’s #1 when running a restaurant.
The food? We waited over an hour for our dinner. One of our party ordered calamari as her meal, and it was brought out with the appetizers so she had to send it back. My fiancé ordered shrimp cocktail, which was served with a remoulade sauce. He asked for cocktail sauce. It was told they did not have any. He then asked for ketchup and horseradish, and was told they did not have that either.
One of our party ordered soup, which was served cold. I ordered pasta and plain marinara sauce, which was totally unremarkable. I could’ve opened up a jar of sauce at home, cooked some rigatoni, and had a better meal. When I order that dish at the Italian restaurant, we usually go to, It is always incredible even though it is just plain pasta and sauce. I have to say thank God for the bread on the table which, once again was bland, cold, and nothing to get excited about, but at least it kept us from starving while we were waiting for our meal Maybe that’s why you do that – so people will be so hungry that they’ll eat whatever you serve them and not complain. Totally disappointing and we will not be back and I will make sure that I let all of my friends and coworkers know about our experience.
As an afterthought, the restaurant was very, very loud and difficult to have a conversations with my dining companions. We were also told that the restaurant had vegan options, but I think, once again, people confuse vegan and vegetarian because when I tried to have a couple of the dishes altered, I was told nothing could be done Because all the food I am, I cannot have. We’re already in the dish. Our waitress was very kind, but very, very flustered and it was clear she did not have a lot of time for us and kept using lack of staff as an excuse. Another young lady brought food to our table who was very snarky and very rude. I understand people are rushed and hurried, but it is also not my problem that you do not have enough staff and I don’t want to hear about it. I work in the service industry and that is the one thing we cannot tell people we serve.- that we are short staffed!
I feel bad having to write this because one of our dining companions last evening has been wanting us to try your restaurant for a long time and has been raving about the food. I know she felt embarrassed about the experience last evening. Maybe the food in Henrietta is different but there was nothing absolutely nothing to rave about last night.
