After driving into Penn Valley this morning I needed coffee! I got a cappuccino and it was probably one of the strongest I have had in a long time!
It’s a cute place with indoor and outside seating. Rustic decor.
They have breakfast…lunch..
And take out. They were super busy which is a good sign! Soups looked really good as well.
Nice menu with plenty of options. Beer and wine available.
Must stop off highway 20 in Penn Valley!

The food was excellent and the prices were good. Never been here before and we were just in the area. Got six meals for a group to go. My only complaint would be the mandatory 18% tip that includes to go orders for this size of order is unnecessary on takeout. Decent little place.

The Blue Cow Deli in Penn Valley is fabulous! Their selection of fresh, yummy foods is extensive. I love the Notorius F.I.G. sandwich! I’ve loved others too, but that’s my favorite. It’s best to call ahead if you’re in a hurry because it’s not a quick in-and—out kind of place. They take the time and care to craft a wonderful sandwich and that takes time.

Wow! Everything about this place is 5+ stars! The service is amazing, the food is wonderful and every customer was happy. I loved how the owners made connections with the customers, got to know them and called most people by their first name. I tried the lunch special, and it didn’t disappoint.

Considering this is one of only a few restaurant options in PV I can see why there are so many good reviews.
I found the sandwich to be mediocre and bland, tasting like something I could make at home. Prices should be lower, but they have the market cornered. I feel spoiled to have access to better sandwich places like Jersey Mikes, Mendocino Farms, Erik’s DeliCafe, etc where I live.
Bathrooms were dirty and toilet would not flush. The lever was non functional. The lady before me left a yellow surprise. I was more considerate and plunged til it went down.
Restaurant felt humid/stuffy like they have no A/C.
Went once and probably won’t be back.

Family and I stopped at Blue Cow Deli for lunch before going to visit Empire Mine in Grass Valley. My wife got the ‘Pleasant Valley Turkey & Avocado’ sandwich and I got ‘The Big Dipper’ sandwich. I love french dip sandwiches and this one was bomb! My wife said her sandwich was good too. Staff was friendly and had a nice farm/rustic atmosphere.
