First visit to Jim’s Country Style Restaurant in Pleasanton, CA — we stopped in while driving from San Jose to Sacramento and were happy to find this popular local breakfast and lunch spot just off I-680.
The atmosphere was casual, family-friendly, warm, and welcoming, with a homey feel and fun signs throughout the dining room. This is a great option for families, road-trippers, and anyone looking for a relaxed place to stop for a hearty meal.
We ordered a variety of classic breakfast and lunch items, including pancakes, scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon, sausage, savory French toast with fried eggs, chili, and the linguica sandwich. The pancakes were especially good — huge, fluffy, and filling — and the bacon and sausage were cooked perfectly with great flavor and texture. The linguica sandwich was a standout, with a mildly spicy, smoky sausage served on a French roll with lettuce, tomato, mayo, thin-sliced red onions, and a pickle. It was our first time trying linguica, and it was delicious.
The chili was flavorful but didn’t quite hit the mark for me personally, as it was only lukewarm and heavier on beans than I typically prefer. Everything else came out hot, well-presented, and satisfying.
Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was taken care of throughout our visit.
If you’re looking for a great breakfast or lunch stop in Pleasanton, Jim’s Country Style Restaurant is definitely worth adding to your list — especially if you’re traveling along I-680. We would happily return and recommend it.

First time eating here, and it was a great experience. We tried the steak sandwich, and I ordered the French toast. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The portions are very generous, and the food tasted amazing. We will definitely be coming back.

Not your fancy restaurant. BUT, hold onto your hats! Food is delicious, get the salsa if you like it a bit spicy. Best salsa I’ve ever had in California. Also their Ranch style potatoes are fabulous & not greasy. I’m not a potatoes person & I almost ate them all. Eggs over easy were perfection. Great cook, lightly cooked. No rushing these eggs, so there wasn’t any brown edges. Just beautiful cooked whites with a perfect flip & nice runny yolks. We tried both the wheat & Sour dough breads, both were good, unbuttered & toasted.
Coffee, get it I had 4 refills. If you like coffee it’s fresh brewed, & delicious. For me add some sugar & cream we’re good to go. One person got the chicken fried steak, it tasted like a tenderized cube steak with a nice peppery flour coating & great country pepper flour gravy. Was very enjoyable experience. I hope you have as good of time as we did.
I had the Country Style with Bacon & Ranch Potatoes. Definitely worth visiting, best breakfast I’ve had out in years.

This gem was recommended by one of my husband’s client. The service is amazing, Bird, our host gave us samples to taste and she was just so pleasant! The food is delicious and has a very friendly atmosphere with our coffee being refilled before we had to ask. Check it out when you can! Jim’s Country Style Restaurant in Pleasanton.

Great diner food. Prices are reasonable and service was very attentive. The decor looks like Grandma’s living room – friendly yet old, but a certain comfortable charm that says “no one will judge you for eating a 1000 calorie omelette here.” The patrons all appear to be families and farmers. Very cute and charming place!

The flag is faded, the walls hold old farm tools and even an old lever action, and the exit sign is crooked. That’s how you know it’s gonna be good. For breakfast: The biscuits and gravy is done right, with a meaty, slightly spicy country gravy. The hash browns are actually crispy without being dry. The sausages are links, crispy on all sides, not just the bottom, but juicy inside. The eggs are cracked, not liquid, even if you order the scramble. The coffee has a standing offer on the table to add Irish cream liqueur to it, and has non alcoholic Irish cream at the table anyways. It was full end to end, so we had a bit of a delay on getting a coffee, but damn, this place is good. I didn’t get to try the lunch yet, but this is a killer breakfast.

Nothing to rave about. The KT omelet was bland. The hash browns were crunchy and delicious with ketchup. My husband enjoyed the Jim’s Omelet. Friendly staff and fast service.

Indoor and outdoor dining. Great friendly service. Liked the hash browns, crispy outside, tender inside. Unfortunately, both the omelette and french toast were not to our liking. The spinach inside the omelette had a weird taste, not fresh.

Just how do these places get high reviews saying, “good food”?!? My French toast butter was salty and the blueberries were no where near fresh. This place is busy, server did her job but food was terrible. I’ll eat breakfast elsewhere next time.
