What an incredible dining experience!

Service: we were a little late to our reservation but we had no issues getting seated and served right away. Everybody was kind, helpful, and informative. Our server answered all of our questions and was happy to help us make food and drink choices.

Food: amuse bouche – delicious rutabega, apple, and tarragon soup. It was perfect and really elevated the experience for us. Such a nice gesture from the kitchen
Tuna crudo – perfectly fresh fish, tangy and crispy, and herby accompaniments. Well thought out
Goat cheese gnudi – soft and pillowy texture, melts in your mouth, great contrast with the crispy pancetta
Papardelle with smoked pheasant – perfect pasta texture, smokiness really comes through in a pleasant way
Caramelized onion ravioli – the onions were great, came off a little bit more sweet than I would’ve liked, but otherwise well balanced with the marrow crema sauce
Citrus olive oil cake – so well done. The zinginess of the citrus fruits, the variety of preserved vs fresh fruits, and the lovely whipped labneh texture and crispy meringues all worked together in a perfect way. Will dream of more cake

Atmosphere: quiet where you can enjoy your conversation, but has fun backround music so it’s not stuffy or high strung. Staff are busy but it never feels rushed or stressful.

Pricing: reasonably priced for the high end experience and dishes. They’re not trying to be anything that they’re not which I really appreciate. The food comes first, and pricing suits the high quality of food without being pretentious

For starter we had Chicken Liver Mousse and Mushroom Polenta Fries and for the main course Green Meadow Farm Pork and Caramelized Onion Ravioli. For dessert we shared Ginger Mascarpone Mousse. All dishes were delicious. Highly recommend this place.

So torn about our visit. The food is exceptional but the portion sizes are quite small for a restaurant not serving it as part of a multi-course tasting menu.

The service experience was surprisingly poor and not even remotely to the standard of how the restaurant presents itself. Largely sub-Applebees service at a Michelin-rated kind of establishment. If you’re gonna spend $175 on a meal for two, you want a bit more.

Overall, Southwark under delivers against what it could and should be able to achieve.

My partner and I have been meaning to visit Southwark for years. Doing so for my fortieth birthday made it totally worth the wait. The entire experience was exceptional! The ambiance at the bar, the bartenders, the other clientele (also celebrating a couple of birthdays in the mix), the cocktails, food—seriously all of it made for a perfect evening out. Thanks to Randall, Perry, and James for their warmth and excellent service. We look forward to visiting again soon. Cheers!

My friend and I had a lovely dinner at Southwark a couple of weekends ago. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the friendly host and bartender. Our server was also incredibly kind and attentive throughout the meal. We shared a warm breads appetizer before moving onto our entrees, which were the roasted lamb shoulder and the duck. We also tried a few different cocktails, which were all pleasing. Desserts were also very good, though the exact names of the dishes escape me. Despite the higher price point, I would say that the excellent service and atmosphere at Southwark make it a perfect spot for an intimate dinner or gathering place for friends.

Awesome restaurant and vibes. Super friendly, knowledgeable staff. We had the rye toast with rhubarb and honey, potato soup, veal ravioli, and the pickled lamb and bacon toast. Would order all of them again, super fresh and delicious. We got the gnocchi and burger and fries as entrees and both were phenomenal. Great burger, perfectly cooked and the fries were incredible. Do not skip the dessert. The chocolate napoleon and the almond brioche charlotte were both amazing. Good wine selection and awesome vibes. Will definitely go back and highly recommend.

We had a wonderful dinner with old friends at Southwark! The server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful! Drinks and food were high quality, and the special wine the server recommended (an older Chianti) was a great pairing and excellent value! Cosy environment, good volume for an intimate dinner.

Great old-fashioned. Couldn’t tell if it was pre-batch or not because it was delivered so quickly, but it was good nonetheless. The Happy Menu wasn’t that great.. I had the cheese plate and fried macaroni. The fried macaroni is just fried macaroni like a corn nut. It’s very loud to eat and doesn’t match the restaurant’s small, intimate vibes.

What an awesome dinner. Southwark had been on the list for a while and we were finally able to go. Perfect night to dig out back in the courtyard.
Cocktails are great and clever. Wine list is small but solid and appropriate for the menu. The beef tartare toast appetizer was great, but the grated horseradish was a little too overpowering to appreciate the tartare. The duck was PERFECT. I say that rarely and it was perfect. Enough fat to want to eat the crisp. Little enough that fat wasn’t your entire bite. Perfectly cooked. The chive mezze rigatoni was in a fantastic yet simple sauce, you’d want to drink it. The double cheeseburger was solid but the fries really stole the show. Ended the night with the corn soufflé cake which is both the weirdest and most delicious combination of flavors. So impressed with the meal. Can’t wait to come back.

I had a very enjoyable experience here with a friend for dinner. I love the frenetic energy of the front of the place while the back of house was quiet and romantic. The food was fine. Nothing was bad. I just wasn’t blown away. I will come back for the service and atmosphere.
