Had the pleasure of visiting a 3rd time and meeting again with our friends Isabelle and Max, and the formidable Chef Krug. Also had the privilege of meeting Helen, the perfectly gracious and accomplished proprietress of the restaurant. Exquisite to experience the themes and variation evolution of the dishes. Highlights from this particular evening include:
• Mushroom risotto incorporating Fava beans inserts of asparagus for greater textural harmony
• Fluke with more tempered garlic flavor allowing sweetness of polenta to feature more prominently
• Swordfish accompaniments orzo having more feta melted in for further creaminess, olive tamponnade topping as sweeter offset to the seafood brine
• Hudson Valley duck breast with gentler sear and more moisture, masterful pairings of strawberry and rhubarb as a jam sauce and of honey and lavender as a sauce garnish
• Chocolate ganache shaped as a truffle versus cake wedge for textural contrast between shell exterior and moist center

Trying to convey how phenomenal this restaurant and team – shoutout to Isabelle and Fernando! – without writing a whole novel here. Visited again, this time on a Sunday evening. Was fortunate to have coincided with the special escargot amuse-bouche gift. Perfectly tender and buttery with hint of sweetness. Standout features among the dishes on the 5 course chef’s tasting menu:
•Fruits de mer: the most succulent fresh seafood melange with spike of acidity in the dressing
•Spring risotto: unique flavor dimension with the Fava beans; the most satisfying chew on the risotto grains
•Watermelon and feta with serrano ham, beautifully arranged as a rosette, and arugula: perfect summer sweet-salty balanced refresher
•Grilled octopus: resplendent with accompanying hummus spread, spices, and micro-diced vegetables
•Golden tilefish: shatteringly crispy skin with tender flaking flesh on the fish, special blend of warm toasted herbs on the sauce
•Fluke with browned butter: amazing sear and al dente texture on the fish, crispy fried Fava beans nicely contrasting
•Venison rib chop: UTTER MAGIC, mind-bendingly tender magenta colored rib chop
•Duck breast: exquisite foie gras wild rice with lavender honey sauced and rhubarb complementing juicy duck breast with torched crisp skin
•Chocolate ganache cake with a darling lemon custard mini vol au vent and fruit garnishes
Tremendous thanks to Chef Richard Krug, a veritable maestro of tastes and textures. Such a pleasure to have had the chance to meet him in person!

Absolument fantastique. If any restaurant in NJ were to be michelin star rated, this would be. Massimo welcome us early, Rain (Reign?) took great care of us through the chef’s 5-course tasting menu. Every dish was a kaleidoscope of flavors, textures, and color.
•Spring risotto with grains impossibly flavorful from the savory mushrooms and creamy from the marscapone
•Grilled octopus stunningly tender with earthy herbal hummus and a refreshing spike of acid
•NJ fluke beurre noisette with perfectly seared crush and flaking tender flesh
•Scallop with cinnamon reduction delightfully innovative
•Lamb chop done to medium rare perfection
•Duck breast bearing a uniquely seasoned crust paired with roasted vegetables
•Chocolate ganache and fruits make for a perfect bite

Bistro d’Azur in South Orange was the perfect place for my wife and me to host our baby shower. We truly had a spectacular time from start to finish. The decor was creative, beautiful, and thoughtfully done, making the whole space feel special and celebratory.

The service was outstanding throughout the event: attentive, friendly, and seamless, which let us actually relax and enjoy the day with our family and friends. A huge shoutout to our point of contact, Isabelle. She was incredibly organized and responsive, and made planning everything feel easy.

If you’re looking for a venue that delivers both atmosphere and top-tier hospitality, Bistro d’Azur is a fantastic choice.

Recently hosted a special event here and the experience was so remarkable I had to share. We had 50 people and everything from the moment guests arrived till they left was perfect. Isabelle guided us through every step and the ambiance, service, and mostly importantly for me – the food, was exceptional. We started with a table for hors d’oeuvres, had a salad course, and then a buffet lunch where grilled salmon and a roasted chicken dish were the stars along with a delicious accompaniment of sides.

It was an important day for us and everyone at Bistro D’Azur, with particular gratitude for Isabelle again, made it perfect.

Highly recommended for any special occasion or non-special occasion. This place is just lovely.

We recently had my daughter’s bridal shower at Bistro d’Azur. It could not have been more perfect. Not only was the food delicious and abundant, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff could not do enough for us. Anything that I asked for was taken care of immediately and nothing was a problem for this wonderful staff. Isabel was such a pleasant and easy person to work with. I wish I could do it again, but I only have one daughter! We will certainly return for a delicious and relaxing meal in the near future!

Bistro d’Azur was an amazing experience from start to finish. Every single dish we tried was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. You can truly taste the quality and care in the food. That said, I’m a huge lobster fan, and the lobster crepe had me literally salivating… rich, flavorful, and perfectly done. The service was immaculate, attentive, warm, and on point the entire time. Between the incredible food, welcoming atmosphere, and top-tier service, this place is a true gem and one I can’t wait to go back to.

Our friends brought us here on Saturday and treated us to a wedding anniversary dinner. We were a party of five. We were given complementary champagne to celebrate our anniversary. I’m vegetarian and the food was excellent. There is prefix dinner with either two options or three options. I chose the two. My salad was huge. My entrée was eggplant with a saffron rice. It was amazing. It’s BYOB. And that’s absolutely fine because we brought our wine in our champagne and other drink drinks. They were so attentive. The staff was wonderful and I believe we overstayed which I’m truly sorry about that. But we were having such a great time there. I definitely recommend them. We would definitely go again and again and again. There is food for everyone. I had my own vegetarian menu which had amazing selections. I have never been to a place where there was so much to choose from. We really love it!!! Five stars and more. Parking in street parking. And I think there’s one handicap space across the street.

Delicious delicious delicious food! Very authentic French restaurant. The servers are very kind and the overall service was great. My favorite dishes were the lobster crepe and the lamb chops which I ordered at medium cooked temperature and it was perfect, tender and miit. I will definitely be coming back.

We came on a cold day in January, but the menu and service were enough to keep us warm!

We considered hosting an event here, and although we ended up going with a slightly larger space, the staff and atmosphere here were a definite plus. We sampled a few dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection.
