I first discovered this place over ten years ago and have been going out of my way to come eat here any time I travel to the DC area.

The fried chicken and steak plates are amazing! Best thing ever! Taste and flavor has been consistent throughout the years. The spice adds just the right amount of umph to the plate.

I also recommend the fried pork belly and pork fried rice.

We were in the area and decided between the two Thai restaurants in the plaza, this was clearly the one to visit as even with the small quarters people we heading inside in packs. Blown away by the simplicity yet bold flavor of the Drunken Stir Fried Shanghai Noodles! The Massaman curry didn’t disappoint and we’ve already vowed to run it back for the star of the show.. rockfish!

S/o to Tu the owner who showed us nothing but genuine hospitality

It was really quiet on a Saturday for lunch, but had a good time here. I went with the chicken Pad Thai, which was presented very nicely and tasted good. It’s not the largest portion nor the cheapest restaurant you go to, but overall you’re getting good Thai food.

Very special Northern Thai cuisine. Been there several times and it never disappointed. The Cornish Chicken is a must try!

Came again and tried their deep fried rock fish and special grilled soft shell crab and both are very delicious.

After finishing my work, I quickly called my friend to invite them out for dinner. This marks our third visit to Esaan, a restaurant we both enjoy. The owner kindly offered us a special drink that is not yet on the menu: draft beer mixed with premium grade green tea from Japan.

I requested the owner to recommend a few intriguing dishes for us to try. We started with the crispy fried shrimp salad. If you’ve never tasted shrimp that can be eaten whole, you must try it at this restaurant. Paired with the draft beer, it elevates the flavors, creating a new dimension of taste.

Next, we enjoyed the grilled pork neck, which features tender pork collar with a smoky aroma. It is complemented by a unique dipping sauce made from tamarind and fresh lime, enhanced with the fragrant notes of crispy roasted rice powder.

Finally, we indulged in the New York strip steak served with Thai rice flour noodles. The flavor is reminiscent of dining at a five-star hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing a touch of luxury to our meal.

I had a very good dining experience at Esaan.

The Tom Yum soup was a highlight with rich broth and fresh ingredients. The pork shoulder was also delicious. The Panang Curry was okay but not amazing. We had the banana coconut milk for dessert, but there were mixed views about it around our table.

The staff were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.

The restaurant was clean and well maintained with a welcoming and cozy atmosphere.

Best Thai restaurant I’ve had in America. First time I went everything I ordered was really good. Second time I went half the stuff was really good. I recommend the grilled prawn, beef stew, fried tofu, massamman curry. Fried pork was alright, but the pad Thai was kind of average. Still highly recommended for anyone looking for a good Thai restaurant.
