Bowie tropical smoothie is the absolute best! I live much closer to the Waugh Chapel tropical smoothie and go out of my way to come all the way to Bowie because the customer service here cannot be beat. No matter what time of the day or night I come, whoever is working is always extremely pleasant ,friendly and working very hard. If the store is not busy, they’re always busy cleaning, etc. Love these kids.!!

This location is no longer black owned it’s a lot of changing Yes changes is good but in this case it’s not l over heard employees saying that the new owners are taking the credit card tips they will no longer receive them thats not legal they should be reported immediately. to Maryland Department of Labor’s Division of Labor and Industry (Wage and Labor

I live in South Lake and this is the closest Tropical
Smoothie until they open another location in our neighborhood. Tonight was actually my second time here. The first time I came with my kids well before closing and the staff was rude and short. Today I came to get food for my kids about 10 minutes before closing and they were still rude and short. Maybe it’s because one of the workers had a headphone in her ear and the other was talking to someone on speakerphone, but they didn’t hear my order correctly and then got an attitude with me when they didn’t understand my order. I also watched them give the same level of customer service to the young men in front of me. I will not be coming back.

This food is a disgrace, I didn’t want to give any stars, but in order to write my review I had to. I visited this place on March 27th with my co-worker trying to get dinner, it was my second choice since the Chipotle had a sign on there door. Anyways, I ordered a Baja chicken, but in a bowl it comes in a wrap, but I always get it in a bowl. The lady who I gave my order to I explained this & I said no blk beans. She went in the back to ask whoever was back there a question then came back & she printed my receipt, it said wrap & no side, I didn’t think nothing of it and let it go.
The girl I guess she was the 1 making the food, brought what looked like a wrap up front & tossed it slowly on the counter & said Baja chicken wrap. No one moved to get the order, so I asked the girl, I hope that’s not my food because I asked for it to be in a bowl. She said the cashier lady didn’t tell her that, I said I literally saw her go back there to ask a question. Then the same girl said she didn’t tell me & if you want it in a bowl, it’s $1.06 more. Me & my co-worker looked at each other, I asked why, she gave me some lame excuse & I paid it.
She comes back out with my bowl, but it has beans in it, at this point me & this girl are going back & forth about the food. I asked for my money back & she said she can’t and tells me she can’t make another bowl cause it comes out her check blah blah blah. That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard. I ask to speak to the manager, long & behold she’s the manager. She said she’ll call the owner to ask about refund & comes back & said the owner said no refund. Doubt she even called. I go to many different Tropical Smoothie Cafés and this is the only one I had an issue with. You need better employees & policies.

If this was my first tropical smoothie experience, I would never return. This location is by far the worst location ever. Smoothie machines broken, employees bang on it to get it to blend. You end up with chunks of fruit and ice pieces. They didn’t have proper ingredients for a wrap nor did they call or put a disclaimer on app informing customers. Certain smoothies aren’t allowed with the pair & save option but they allow you to order and then make you wait a week for a refund. All straws are split at the top, someone can seriously injure themselves. Very obvious management is not involved regularly nor cares about the customer experience. One employee told a customer “good luck with the cup holder not breaking” as he was loading 5 smoothies in it. This location is a waste of customers time and money. Better off driving to the Crofton location where your time and money is valued.

This is by far the worst Tropical Smoothie location I’ve ever been to. The manager is completely unprofessional and sets a poor example for the rest of the staff, who follow suit. There’s a man who works the late shift and is especially rude—when my boyfriend and I came in to order, he greeted us with “Wassup, what do you want?” No “hello,” no professionalism—just straight-up disrespect. I’m a customer, not your friend. Speak accordingly.
They also stop serving food an hour before closing. If your posted hours say 9 PM, why are you cutting off food orders at 8? On top of that, the staff consistently have terrible attitudes. They don’t accept cash, which is inconvenient and not clearly communicated.
What’s worse is how they prioritize DoorDash orders over in-store customers. We were the only people in the store, yet we had to wait 30 minutes just to place an order because they were overwhelmed with delivery requests and only had two employees working. That’s unacceptable.
Avoid this location if you value your time, money, or basic respect!
