Every time I walk into my neighborhood bodega, the aroma from Sugar Dumpling stops me in my tracks. It’s tucked inside like a hidden treasure, and I’d been eyeing it for a while—drawn in by that rich, authentic West Indian scent that feels like home. ✨
The bodega itself is your typical local spot, but her little section? She hooked it up! Cute, inviting, and full of flavor and personality. It’s clear she put love into making it her own.
The owner is an absolute gem—kind, sweet, and incredibly friendly. Her customer service is top-tier: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She made me feel like I wasn’t just grabbing takeout—I was being taken care of.
I ordered ackee and saltfish with plantains, fried dumpling, and festival—and let me tell you, it was delicious. I’m picky about that dish because it’s one of my grandmother’s favorites, and this version did it justice. Flavorful, comforting, and cooked with soul. ️
While I was there, she offered me a sample of the jerk pork, and whew… that’s going to be my next order, no question. ️
The prices are great, the portions are generous, and the flavors are real. If you’re in the area and craving authentic West Indian food served with heart and hospitality, Sugar Dumpling is a must. I’ll definitely be back for more!

It’s a small restaurant inside a mart, so don’t be fooled—the food is amazing. I had just landed and was craving some Jamaican food. I was excited they were still serving breakfast after 11am. When I arrived, all the food looked so good- presentation was on point! I ended up adding wings and small jerk pasta to my order and it was well worth the spend!

I catered Jerk chicken for a party at sugar dumpling.. It was delicious ! My guests kept asking me where did I get it from. The Jerk sauce was perfect not too spicy just right. Chicken was very tender falling off the bones. They had my order ready. No wait. I will definitely be returning for my catering needs.
