The salsa are excellent! The Agua fresca is on point. The Labio kinda sucked. Too much juice. It did thicken up. Maybe that’s how it was supposed to be. The Keka Pollo and carne asada was great. Nice flavors combined. The al pastor and the tripa are better than el gordo in my opinion.

Day of the week: Sunday
Meats:
Labio (Cabeza) was so delicious! Will come back just for the labio vampiro. Even my toddler couldn’t stop eating it.
Pastor was good.
Tripa was okay, some bits were crunchy and very good. I prefer all of it to be crunchy.
Items we tried: tacos, mulitas, and vamprios. So much delicious cheese!
Drinks: Cebada was authentic and delicious.

I visited Chula Tacos’ new H Street location in Chula Vista, and the tacos are absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and well made. The service has been friendly and welcoming.
This was my second visit in a row. During my in-person visit, there weren’t enough chili oil salsas for every table, so we had to borrow one from another table. On my to-go order, I was told they’re not allowed to give out chili oil for takeout orders. The only option was to open my order and add the chili oil directly into the tacos before leaving.
I mentioned to the cashier that this might be something management should address, especially since I’d be more than willing to pay for a side of chili oil if cost or supply is the concern.
Overall, the food is excellent and the staff is kind — I just hope the chili oil availability and takeout policy get improved.

My wife has shown me many chula tacos videos recently and I saw that they opened one close to us so we had to come check it out especially since they were creating such a buzz on Instagram. Sadly, the tacos were mid at best. We had the Al pastor keka and a birria taco because the carne asada is not available yet. The Al pastor wasn’t very balanced. While the flavor of the meat was okay, the guacamole was a watery puree of avocado with barely any salt or seasoning. It canceled the flavor of the meat. Their salsa and a squeeze of lime definitely helped make it better, but it was very average. The birria was about the same. Maybe I should have asked for consomé? Maybe it’s a secret menu item but I didn’t see it in the menu and it wasn’t offered. A consomé would have helped combat the dryness and mealy texture of the meat. I really wanted to love this place. 4 stars because they are new and I like to give newly opened businesses the benefit of the doubt. I’ll try again when they have carne asada

The food was really good but the experience was not. I tried the drive thru and waited a bit no answer so I got off. There’s no line so I didn’t understand why the drive thru didn’t have an answer. Well the cash register employee had me wait for her to finish her text to take my order. And she also kept going back to her phone whilst taking my order. I want places like this to succeed but come on.

Chula Tacos has recently opened their latest location in Chula Vista on H street. I love their al pastor tacos so I ordered a trio and $3.50 each.
The tacos came doubled up with the mini corn tortillas as they should be. I like that they put on the hot griddle with a little bit of juice from the al pastor. The tacos were great! The came generously filled with freshly made guacamole and tender al pastor pork meat. The meat was delicious and the guacamole was well seasoned. The hot sauce that came on the tacos was tasty and offered a medium heat. The chopped white onions and cilantro that came on all three tacos were fresh.
There’s a good amount of inside seating, but parking can be tight during busy hours. Andrea at the counter was very nice and friendly when she took my order. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you with hot sauce bottles and a little basket with sliced limes and radishes.
