At G&D, you can either order fresh seafood to take home or dine in. We chose to sit down and enjoy a meal. We started with two drinks: Passion Fruit and Tamarind Passion Fruit. Both were refreshing, but I personally preferred the Tamarind blend.
For our meal, we ordered the Stuffed Lobster and Shrimp—beautifully plated, as you can see below. I had the shrimp, and it definitely hit the spot. My cousin enjoyed the lobster and said it was just as flavorful. The pricing was fair for the portion and quality.
The atmosphere was welcoming, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. You can also get a feel for the vibe from the photo of the restaurant’s interior below.
Will I return?
Yes, I would—but next time, I’ll try something different on the menu!
The food.
I had the coconut shrimp w/ seasoned rice and mixed veggies. The wait was 45+ minutes before we received our food. The coconut shrimp was just OK. The plum sauce doesn’t pair well with the shrimp. My suggestion would be to create a sauce from a locally grown fruit…mango, June plum.. the seasoned rice was good. The mixed veggies were bland. They ran out of Mac and cheese, 1 flavored drink and cake.
The beverage
I had the ginger blend. It was toooooo sweet. I had to add water. However the kick of the ginger was a delight.
For me, I think it was just an off day—they said the regular chef was out. I already knew it would take a long time from all the reviews (whatever they say add another 30mins) and price is not a deal breaker if the food is banging…
After a week on the island, I was bummed I hadn’t had conch yet so when I saw it on the menu I had to jump on that. The good: generous portion size and super tender conch. The bad: the curry had absolutely no flavor—no depth, no soul, and no spice (salt and pepper weren’t even at the party). The rice was meh/mushy and plantains cooked to death.
The staff are warm and kind, know their regulars, and the restaurant itself is clean (no wait staff, but you can eat your food in the dining area if you’d like).
Next time I’m back, will def give them another shot.
I had the stuffed lobster with mixed veggies and coleslaw. The food was delicious! The steamed veggies were cooked perfectly – not too raw but not too soft. The coleslaw had a good crunch and flavor. The lobster is one of the meals I looked forward too the whole trip. The stuffing had a savory and spicy stuffing that filled it along with the actual flavorful and meaty tail. I’m getting hungry thinking about this
