I came here with 2 local folks who both agreed the green chili here is a very good example of Trinidad-style green chili. The sopapillas were TOP NOTCH. Chewy but fluffy, and oh so good. Perfect with honey.
As a vegetarian, I enjoyed the veggie omelet. The server even guessed I was vegetarian based off my order and recommended the red chili (as it doesn’t have meat). The red chili was fairly mild, more like a sauce than a hearty chili on it’s own, but a nice flavor addition.
This is a comfortable, friendly diner where you can get a quality plate of local-style food. I’ll definitely be stopping by again next time I’m in town.

Awesome little family diner in Trinidad. I will say I was a bit skeptical when pulling up to the restaurant, as it barely looks open and a little run down. The friendly staff and delicious food make up for the lack of curb appeal for sure. If you’ve been holding back on trying this place because of the looks, I would highly recommend to reconsider.

A fun find on my way back from Trinidad Lake. Just the kind of small restaurant I like. Great food and service. Enjoyed my visit
Would love to paint a mural on the outside!

Friendly staff. Coffee not so great and soda is canned. Still a great hole in the wall breakfast place on your way to Colorado. The food was good

Small town atmosphere, local hangout, roadside greasy spoon. Short staffed so if you’re in a hurry this may not be the place for you. Tool 50 mins to get food and 7min to eat it. Had the 2 egg breakfast, nothing to write home about. But if you need to know if the fish are biting and where swing by here.

A true family run restaurant, and favorite breakfast hangout for locals. Friendly and engaging staff – even when slammed. Eggs cooked precisely to order, crispy, thick cut bacon, perfectly seasoned food. No outside signage. Great “underground” dining experience!

We always have a great time here at the Family Seed. Good home town fixins, the prices are more than reasonable for portions you are given. As for the ladies, they are always sweet & smiling. Very fast & even remembers what alot of us order on a regular basis. In all honesty, when you walk in, you’re treated as Family!!! Hence the name, Family Seed.

The wife and I decided to stop in on our way back up north to Denver. In town for thanksgiving. We heard amazing things about this little spot. Once there, we weren’t greeted by anyone but told to sit anywhere. We chose the closest seat, right infront of the kitchen. They took our drink order right away. (Two waters and one coffee) we got our drinks missing one water but no big deal we asked and got another. 5 minutes later we ordered. The order was a denevr omelet with a pancake and a huevos rancheros plate, this order should take 15 – 20 minutes. Instead we waited over 40 minutes. At this point we asked for the check with no food on it, happy to pay for our drinks. Maybe 20 seconds later the waitress comes out saying it’s ready (food looked cold when brought out) we politely declined. She went back and told another waitress that we didn’t want the food and they were confused on why. But we both were annoyed and ready to leave. Our waitress told us that we can just leave without paying for drinks. It was only until half way through the door we hear a low mumble “sorry”. From other reviews going as far back as 3+ years, if you aren’t a local you won’t be served like a local. We came to the conclusion they waited to start our order and probably let it sit there. We have no clue if the food was good or not, but from the look of the bathrooms I highly doubt it was appetizing. It’s sad when a smaller family ran business from the Springs performed better, we ordered the same order and it being a busy day for them they brought the order out in 8 minutes and 58 seconds. Please stay away from the family seed, you will be disappointed like us. If I could put negative stars I would love to.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant out, had looked at couple of reviews online, however my experience wasn’t really what I had hoped for it to be. I give 2 stars because the food wasn’t horrible, it was actually pretty good! However when my family and I arrived we weren’t greeted and told to sit wherever after standing at the counter for a few minutes. One of the waitress kept looking at us in a strange manner and it was very obvious that my family and I weren’t from the area as all the “locals” that were dining in as well kept staring at us. We stopped by as we were on the road and this visit didn’t really satisfy us.
