Spicy Sichuan & Hunan specialties served in a Chinese-inspired dining room with dark-wood accents.

The atmosphere here is quite pleasant, but I had an unfortunate experience with the food’s cleanliness. I found a specific type of hair in my dish, which was quite off-putting. It might be helpful for the kitchen staff to pay closer attention to food preparation to enhance the dining experience.

I don’t know how we missed this place! The Dan Dan Noodles and Dry Sauteed Beef with Chili were both delicious. The beef was definitely the highlight – very crispy and spicy, shredded in small pieces. The Dan Dan Noodles were numbing and mildly spicy, although I could have gone for noodles that were slightly less cooked. Both were very generous portions, for reasonable prices. Great service, including a water fill-up!

What a treat! The food is phenomenal and at the right price. Authentic Chinese cuisine right at the heart of the Peninsula. This restaurant is definitely not your Americanized Chinese food. We’re talking about a proper authentic meal at a somewhat rundown place which just adds to the experience.
Absolutely will return.

If you’re a pork and spice lover like me try their hunan preserved pork. It is one of the best Chinese dishes ever. My favorite. This is a Chinese restaurant so expect Chinese service. You know, very quick and direct to the point. Don’t expect to come in here thinking they’re great at small talk and charming you. You’re in the Bay Area not a southern state

Typical Americanized Chinese fare. Nothing to make it stand out. The food came out suspiciously fast, so obviously not made to order. The food was, however, hot and delicious. The broccoli nice and crisp. Rice costs extra, which is within their rights, but most places do include the rice (it’s less than two bucks more). They don’t have egg drop soup, but a tomato egg drop soup. They did offer to take out the tomato, however the smallest serving is enough for two people. They didn’t have an individual cup available, so I had to pass on it. And i had really been looking forward to egg drop soup. If i was in the area again i would check out the other options. Not against going here again, but nothing to make it stand out.

Crouching Tiger in Redwood City is a good choice for a big group gathering. They have a ton of spacious tables perfect for family-style dining, and our service was fantastic. The staff was friendly, attentive, and kept our water glasses full throughout the meal.
Unfortunately, the food itself was a bit of a mixed bag. The Vegetarian Manchurian house special had a decent sauce, but the Manchurian itself was a bit soggy on the inside. It felt like it had been sitting in sauce for a bit too long. The egg fried rice with BBQ pork was another letdown. The rice was undercooked, and the BBQ pork itself was bland and lacked the smoky sweetness you would expect.
The hot iron plate style chicken had so much potential, but the execution fell flat. They put the chicken on top of the crispy rice, which sounds good in theory, but it meant the rice got soggy almost immediately. By the time you got to the rice, it was all mushy.
Overall, Crouching Tiger is a good option for a large group with friendly service, but the food needs some work. I’d recommend sticking with simpler dishes and maybe skipping the sizzling plate options.

Love this restaurant! It offers authentic Chinese cuisine with rich favors and generous portions. The staff are friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, making it a great spot for family dinners or a night out with friends. Highly recommended for anyone craving quality Chinese food in Redwood City. Parking has to be street parking though.

I was visiting a friend in San Francisco, four of us had lunch just so before my flight back to Houston. Absolutely loved the food! The dry shrimp and boiled fish was deliciously warm and spicy, just the right heat you need especially on a chilly day. Customer service is great as well and we didn’t have to wait long for our food.

The portion of food is satisfied but the taste of our orders are just ok. Beef noodle soup is fine, but definitely avoid seafood noodle soup.
We didn’t get a good response when we provided the feedback of food and charged tips.
The interior is well decorated though.

Absolute 5 star!! Incredible food, best service I’ve seen in a SiChuan restaurant, clean environment, no wait, and a comfortable, well decorated environment. Came here with my family after a movie. GPS led us to the backdoor of the restaurant, which wasn’t very appealing. Thankfully, the waitress politely led us to our seats just when my family was starting to have doubts.
Food completely blew us away. The lamb dish was the best I’ve had, just the right amount of cumin (not too much!). Vegetables were suprisingly packed with flavor. Very authentic.
