The only negative thing I really have to say is the water here is well water and you can taste it. Not a preferred choice of mine.
We ordered
Two egg breakfast with pancakes: it was a solid breakfast. Exactly what you’d expect. My boyfriend really loved the bacon.
Mushroom burger: This burger is 5/5! I really loved it. It is one of the best mushroom burgers I’ve ever had. I have nothing I would change about it. The bun was toasted well, seasoned Beautifully and the fries were cooked well. The only thing I would have changed was being served in a wire basket. It made it hard to use a fork or knife because you cut through paper. The burger got messy and I needed the utensils.
Original review:
Our recent visit to Filling Station was a disappointing experience, marred by poor service and subpar food quality, despite the kitchen’s attempt to salvage the situation.
The standout issue was our waitress, Maddie, a teenage server whose incompetence significantly impacted our meal. Our order—a burger and fries—was left sitting on the counter for over 10 minutes, clearly visible as she repeatedly walked past it. The counter was cluttered with orders not taken to tables or boxed up for the to go order and Maddie’s neglect was glaring. She prioritized taking phone orders and cashing out other customers over delivering our food or even boxing up another customer’s to-go order. It wasn’t until a staff member from the back noticed and brought us our now-cold fries and room-temperature burger that we received our meal. The kitchen, to their credit, quickly prepared fresh fries when we pointed out the issue, but the burger was a letdown. The bottom bun was soggy, cold, and utterly inedible, making the entire dish unappetizing.
While the kitchen’s effort to replace the fries was appreciated, the overall experience was frustrating. Maddie’s lack of awareness and poor prioritization made it clear she was overwhelmed (even though there were only two tables with two people at each table there) or she simply was not up to the task. The restaurant’s ambiance and menu had potential, but the service and food quality need serious improvement. I hope management addresses these issues, as I’d maybe give Filling Station another chance, but this visit was a miss. Not sure if we want to risk it again.
We got the Lamb omelette (if you love gyros the definitely get this) and the sweet potato hash (if you love sweet potatoes this is amazing!!) They make their own jam, this jam was fantastic! I’m not typically a fan of home fries but theirs just changed my mind!! The owners were so nice and service was quick! This is a cute spot and friendly atmosphere was the perfect breakfast date! Definitely will be back and look forward to many more yummy meals!
For breakfast, I ordered the chicken and waffles, and wow—easily one of the best I’ve had. It’s the kind of breakfast that puts you in a good mood for the rest of the day.
Then, on a separate visit, I came back for dinner and tried the mushroom burger. I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting much—mushroom burgers can be hit or miss—but this one was surprisingly good. Even as someone who usually goes straight for the classic beef options, I’d absolutely order it again.
Between the friendly staff, the laid-back atmosphere, and food that consistently exceeds expectations, Filling Station is definitely worth a visit—whether you’re starting your day or ending it. Highly recommend!
