Went in for breakfast and asked about ordering gravy biscuits with fries instead of home fries and was told they wouldn’t make them because it was breakfast only. We placed our order and then the waitress came back and told us she convinced the cook to make me fries but she wasn’t happy about it.
Biscuits were ok. Ham was too salty and potatoes were greasy. Overall food was okay. I might go back, but not my first choice.

Strike three! Never going back. Went for breakfast yesterday and for 3rd time in a row it was a joke. First, young guy seated me at the bar and commenced to roll silverware with an attitude like somebody shot his puppy. Then apparently never sought to find a server to take my order as I sat there for the next 25 mins until one of the servers finally asked me if somebody was taking care of me after all servers walked past me multiple times. One of which came back to sip her drink which was under the counter right in front of me. Then another group of three not only got their food but ate it and readying to leave before my food came another 21 mins later. And NO the place was only 50% seated during this entire time. Then when checking out with my server has the gall to ask if everything was alright like this sort of lack of service was standard. I’m guessing that is true bases on Strike 1 & 2 on my previous visits. Never again!

There wasn’t too many customers, mostly elderly people. The people who take your orders are really friendly. I ordered the shrimps and grits, it looked great and smelled great but it taste bland. They gave me more seasoning in a small cup and that helped but I ended up getting a shrimp shell in my food, I didn’t let anyone know because I already felt like I bothered them enough. This is a nice place to go when you want breakfast!

Stopped by with a group for a quick breakfast. We ordered biscuits which were tasty, soft, and delicious. Prices were decent. The options include sausage, ham, bacon, fried chicken, egg, and cheese. They also sell other delicious breakfast and non breakfast items. The server/staff member was friendly and helpful and the service was fast (given we were in a bit of a rush). Street parking available near the cafe.

My husband and I just moved to NC and were looking for good places to eat. Saw the reviews were good for this place but we were very disappointed. I’ve found the water in NC not to be so tasty so I asked for a lemon but waitress said they don’t carry lemons. What do they do for the ice tea then? Anyway not that big of a deal. Proceeded to order and I wanted a biscuit but according to the waitress they were NOT out of biscuits and even though menu said I could purchase one for 2.99 she said they were NOT selling them today and I could not have one unless I purchased one of two specific menu items. I did not purchase one of those menu items but my husband did. When the food came out he had 1/2 of a biscuit. What? Also I asked to sub my country ham for bacon and I was charged for a whole side of bacon without getting the ham. I could have paid for a side of bacon and still got my ham if that was going to be the case. When we asked about the 1/2 biscuit we weren’t given a straight answer and we were then treated very poorly after that. They brought us our check before we could even eat and we were asked to pay before we were even done. I saw on other reviews that people of color haven’t felt welcome and we are Asian and didn’t feel welcome. I really hope it’s not the case, but we didn’t feel comfortable. The food was subpar and not good enough for them to be that stingy over. Anyways I would say maybe locals are treated better but we are locals now so unknown. Not worth a revisit.

The food was delicious!! Everything was well seasoned, and it was decorated with pictures of Elizabeth city looked years ago. The entire staff was friendly and checked in on us as we enjoyed our meal. I can tell a lot of locals came here because a woman who seemed to be the manager or owner called a few folks by name.
Really awesome welcoming atmosphere, great portions, and a great price. The Chicken wrap was delicious and the fries are the best fries I have had in a long time.

Came and ate breakfast this morning, got the dirty bird amazing per usual. Parked in the back lot ate my breakfast and then went to fitness warehouse to work off breakfast. Guess they were having a protest downtown this morning so my car was towed. Will not be returning to colonial due to having to pay a towing cost. Also the owners son has a bad attitude, napoleon complex at best. Lost a good paying and tipping customer.

This is my 2nd time here and I got the same thing minus grits(grits had no taste). I waited to give a 2nd chance before I left a review. I got scramble eggs with cheese, home fries and pancakes. The pancakes are amazing(4 star amazing). The home fries was ok but its like they always give last bit of greasy ones left over in the pan with the crumbs. Eggs was ok, could be better. I recommend the pancakes. Staff is friendly.
