I’m from New York, and I can’t believe it took me this long to make my way to Baltimore for this.
I literally hopped in my car and made a four-hour drive just to see if the buzz was real and I’m glad I did. From the moment I pulled up, the outside had a cool vintage industrial vibe that already set the tone.
I came for brunch and tried the catfish and grits for the first time, and wow… that first bite punched me with flavor. The catfish was crispy, the grits were creamy, and everything tasted like real, made-with-love soul comfort food.
This wasn’t overhyped or forced it felt genuine. The food, the vibe, the experience all matched. If you’re looking for a spot that delivers comfort, flavor, and authenticity, Culture Bar & Grill is absolutely worth checking out.

The space is intimate, urban, and clearly designed for a younger demographic. There is nothing inherently wrong with that, but the environment requires a certain level of awareness. In the dead of winter, sitting near the bar becomes an immersive experience, every door opening serves as a reminder to order wisely and dress strategically. Let’s just say SHEIN was under pressure.
To their credit, the door staff maintained order, and Chauveighn behind the bar was exceptional. Her drinks were balanced, consistent, and confidently executed. If the establishment has a backbone, it lives behind that bar.
The food, unexpectedly, held its own. The fried catfish was properly seasoned and fried with intention. The yams were flavorful without being overly sweet. The cabbage leaned toward overcooked and heavily seasoned, though some patrons will likely find that appealing. The mac and cheese was surprisingly refined, built on a roux and executed well on this visit. The green beans carried strong turkey flavor but were slightly overcooked.
In truth, the bartender and the kitchen elevated what could have been a purely aesthetic experience into something legitimately enjoyable. Without them, the atmosphere alone would not have justified a return visit.
Would I go back? Yes, selectively, and primarily for brunch. That statement alone speaks volumes.

Monii is the BESSTTTTTT Server HANDS DOWNNN!!!! She did not disappoint on suggesting them catfish sliders I would and have already recommended this place! Security, bartenders, and other services were very professional and friendly. Environment is comfortable to eat. This is my first time but not my last!!!

I saw this restaurant on Instagram and made a mental note to visit. On New Year’s Day, hubby was like I want to visit this restaurant called Culture. We actually had our boys with us so we were going to order and take it to go but upon getting there, the ladies made us feel okay to stay and eat with the boys.
Hubby had the lamb chops with cabbage and asparagus. Lamb chops were tender and very flavorful. The cabbage was sooo freaking good! However, the asparagus was left to be desired.
The boys had the bacon cheeseburger and fries. My youngest said he’s never had a burger that was that good. I didn’t take a pic but the plate was clean when was done.
I ordered the catfish with the string beans and Mac and cheese. The fish was light and seasoned. Soo good! The string beans were flavorful and cooked with turkey meat but they tasted like they came from the can. And the Mac and cheese was so cheesy and delicious. The cornbread muffin that came with the meal was delicious too.
We ordered the Strawberry Mojito, the lemon drops and Main Squeeze for drinks. Strawberry lemonade for the kids.
We ordered one bomb cake to go. I was so mad we didn’t get two. It melted in your mouth. Monii was our waitress and she was great. The music was good. The only that was annoying was where we sat was so tight that there would be traffic getting in the way as a line formed to use the one bathroom they had.
Other than that, we had a great experience and we will be visiting again.

To start the spot is quaint and easily accessible. We were well greeted when we walked in. Each staff person was warm and receptive. We sat at a table top and viewed the menu from the QR code.
We ordered grits, bacon, and eggs and mojito.
Food was served and charged like a la carte. Each plate was reasonably good.
The mojito was sweet juice. No hint of alcohol at all. Either the alcohol is watered down or a drop was added to the drink.
Coming from Miami where mojitos is a staple drink.
Service again was good. Volume of music was good. Now people are coming in.
Cons:
I don’t like the idea of a la carte. It gives plate tasting rather than a full meal. Mostly because of the portion/ cost ratio.
Check out: tax and 18% gratuity for 2 people.
Did I say TWO people.
Tip (IMO)
They would come out better if they charged for a full plate entree and do what most eateries do, auto charge for gratuity if your party is large.

I had a great experience at this restaurant. The Rasta Pasta was amazing, the mac & cheese was everything, and the crabcake was full of flavor. This spot definitely won me over, it’s about to become a regular for me, at least twice a week.

Went in with some of my girls after a long day of travel and had no idea we were walking into a black establishment ( I was blindly following the group and didn’t even hear the name of the spot). I point this out only because I’m from Seattle and you have to actively seek out black owned businesses here. As soon as we opened the door I was like “okkkkkaaay”. The vibes were good and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The table we were seated at was very clearly dirty and needed to be wiped down and we asked the hostess to clean it she definitely copped an attitude which right away was a turn off. But, the gentleman who was our waiter more than made up for it. He was helpful with the menu, gave us a round of free shots and was overall very pleasant. We were so happy with the food that we came later in the week with more people! I got the rasta pasta with chicken and it was very flavorful and delicious and the second time I got the bacon burger with fries which was also very good.
