My party of eight recently dined at Italia, and our experience was quite disappointing. While we were excited about the Italian cuisine, we faced several issues.
Firstly, we encountered a $10 sharing fee that was meant for those sharing an entree ( Completely fine!!) However, only one person in our group was actually sharing a meal. Two other members were charged this fee despite not sharing any entree. My boyfriend, who had only a glass of wine and offered to order dessert, was still charged the fee because he did not order an entree. The server insisted that the fee applied simply for occupying the table and using napkins, regardless of any additional orders.
Additionally, our vegetarian friend received a sauce containing meat, which she inquired about prior to ordering and was told there was no meat, so she couldn’t eat her meal and was still charged the sitting fee.
To make matters worse, when we asked for clarification, the server initially claimed to consult a manager. However, when we requested to speak with this manager, she admitted that there was no manager. This added to our frustration.
In summary, the restaurant’s policies were not transparent, and the service was unprofessional. There were lots of derogatory remarks made towards us that even made other customers uncomfortable. We hope they take this feedback seriously and improve in the future.

Our experience at this Italian restaurant in Norwalk was deeply disappointing. From the start, we had to find our own table, and it took more than 10 minutes just to get any water or bread. Throughout the evening, we constantly had to ask for basic thing like refills of water, and each request was met with dismissiveness or rudeness from the server. She said she “does not do that stuff.” She claimed to be the owner but showed no professionalism, adding a sharing charge just because I was sitting at the table with only a glass of wine. When i said i would have a tiramisu as my meal due to having ate earlier, this was met with resistance as well, claiming that is only an appetizer. I feel as though she was trying to upcharge and force us to get more items. When we asked for clarification on these charges, she accused us of harassment and threatened to call the cops.
We even had a situation where a vegetarian dish was served with meat, and instead of correcting it, she argued with us. By the end of the night, we just paid the bill, which was handwritten and unclear. We left feeling overcharged and disrespected. My wife and her family all grew up going to Italia. I went there for the first time tonight and I was not disappointed one bit. The service could’ve been a little better but they were absolutely slammed so I do get that it’s had to keep up when you are being pulled left and right. The veal parm is the best I’ve ever had. The ravioli was great as well! I would say skip the pasta fagioli. It was a bit of a let down. My wife said the recipe changed from what she remembered.

OMG! Where to start. It was a Monday evening & we walked in & it was busy. They had 3 parties going on. They asked if we had reservations. I told them no, we were from out of town. They still seated us. I’m so glad they did. The food was phenomenal & fresh. I love gnocchi & I finally got homemade gnocchi. The owners & workers are so nice. They even did something special for us since it was crowded. I highly recommend this place for fresh real Italian cuisine.
