I’ve eaten here twice once for takeout and once we dined in. Overall the food is good. During my visits I ordered Tilapia Suya twice, Chicken Shawarma twice, jollof rice, and peanut butter soup. I highly recommend the Chicken Shawarma. The Tilapia was a good option but my only recommendation is for it to be cooked less crispy because it was fried a bit too hard and was tough to chew. I enjoyed the sauce that was served on the side. I would recommend you try this place for yourself it’s worth it. The staff is very friendly. Items are made to order so be patient.

We recently visited Suya House in Newcastle, drawn by its strong Google reviews and our own curiosity to explore African cuisine. Since we’re not very familiar with the food, we asked our server for recommendations. She suggested the lamb curry with fufu and assured us the fried fish was much better than what’s shown online. She also mentioned that the restaurant is under new ownership—still operating as Suya House—but with improved quality compared to the previous management.
We ordered the fried fish, lamb curry with fufu, and a hibiscus drink. The drink was absolutely delightful—refreshing and full of flavor. The fish came deep-fried with crispy edges, bone-in, topped with sautéed vegetables, brown rice, and plantain chips. Overall, it was a satisfying dish, though the rice was unfortunately dry and hard.
As for the lamb curry, I’m not sure how it’s traditionally supposed to taste, so I can’t fairly judge the flavor. However, the lamb itself was dry and tough, which made it difficult to enjoy. We mentioned this to the server, but she didn’t respond, which felt a bit awkward.
We came with open minds and were excited to try something new. While some elements were enjoyable, others missed the mark for us. Still, we appreciate the opportunity to explore a new cuisine and hope the restaurant continues to grow under its new ownership.

Tried something different today. African Grill. Food was good! Small cozy place inside. Outdoor seating available. No alcohol at this time. Had Garlic Buffalo wings. Good. Goat with Rice. Also good. Goat done a little more than we’re used too, but was good. A lot of pieces throughout. Our waitress was polite and attentive.

While driving through Delaware, I made a stop at Suya House Africa Grill to recharge with some authentic West African cuisine. I went with the Jollof rice and fish, paired with an ice-cold Zobo drink infused with ginger – the perfect combo. The meal was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend Suya House Africa Grill to anyone craving the bold, rich flavors of West Africa.
Their menu features popular dishes from countries like Ghana, Nigeria, and Cameroon, offering a true taste of the region. And yes, I have to say it: Ghana Jollof still reigns supreme . No other Jollof rice, not even Nigeria’s, comes close in flavor and deliciousness.
Prices are very affordable, and I definitely got my money’s worth. A must-visit spot if you’re in the area!

Friendly customer service.
Nice decor inside.
Food was delicious especially the egusi and fufu. That’s my absolute favorite and will be back for more of that only.
The spicy goat light soup was not what we expected as for the style and taste, but I know every country is different so next time we will pass. But overall, it’s great to have an African restaurant in the area. Thank you.

I don’t usually leave reviews but felt I needed to leave one here. I ordered fufu and egusi and quite honestly it was terrible in the nicest way possible. they also have a sign on the table when ordering if you leave five star review, you get five dollars off your order. I can’t speak for anything else on the menu, but for anyone who’s wanting to try fufu and egusi .. don’t waste your money here I wish I hadn’t.

Tried a beef and a lamb gyro. They were okay but a bit pricey in my opinion.
The staff is awesome and very friendly. Service wasn’t very fast but you know everything is being made to order.
I feel like the beef might have been a little bit overcooked and had a little bit of a burnt flavor in it at times. My wife found the lamb a little bit salty.
I recommend it based on my comments above being taken into account

So let me start out by saying I did not dine in so I can’t speak to the service or atmosphere. Not to give them a bad score. I gave them five stars on service and atmosphere. I can only speak to the Food, which I am about to do. I ordered the potato greens and substituted the Fūfu over the rice. I’ve ordered from there more than once. I must say the food is delicious. In fact, I order when I can literally walk to the corner and get the same dish. That being said the portions are a little skimpy. When I order potato greens I would like to have some greens Not meat that’s covered in greens.. For the price, I would expect a fair and decent portion of greens and meat. All at all if the opportunity present itself, I will order from there again. Something tells me I would probably do better off by going down there and dealing with them directly.
