Entirely mediocre. The review before mine is accurate, undercooked food and flat service. Scallops were basically raw and basil risotto tasteless. That’s not the problem though, 2 other tables also had the same and all three of us picked at it and returned them half eaten. Servers never asked why, just took plates and brought the check. The best patio seat was held by an employee or employee friend for an hour+, despite them not eating anything. Just chatting with staff that should be focused on improving service. Fried chicken was solid 3.5 out of 5 though? Better choices nearby for food.

After a 10 minute wait at our table we were brought some water. Several minutes later a server came by and said, well, what do you want. We had no chance to order wine or beverages. The bread they brought out was burnt. The service was the poorest I’ve encountered in many a year. The menu was VERY limited. My chicken dish was tasteless. My husband enjoyed his entree, my mother in law didn’t eat hers. We spoke to a manager, and he just seemed to shrug our concerns off. We are locals and eat in higher end places often. We will never return to Villa Creek.l

The food and presentation made the 101 drive stop here well worth the time. Then pan seared chicken was amazing and the pork shoulder soup a spicy but light surprise. The atmosphere was dark and relaxing, a nice escape from the evening sun. The service was a bit distracted and it was not possible to escape the seasonal flies from outside. Even still we will be back for more.

Best location in town. They used to have an off the hook appetizer which was a shrimp plate served with tortillas. They are a solid 3 star but could easily be a 5 if they upped their game. I would poor generously in the beverage department and open up a larger variety of light fare.

A restaurant really has to try hard to earn a two-star review from us, but unfortunately our experience at Villa Creek deserved it. Actually, a one-star, so read on. Pay attention to the mediocre Yelp reviews; they all note things that we experienced. It started before we got there, as we chose V.C. based both on the web menu and Google + Yelp. ratings.

It’s a long story, but here is the bottom line: a web menu that was partly wrong; not telling us about specials that they offered to our neighbors, and that we would have ordered; dangerously undercooked, oily food; interminable waits; and a faux complementary offering. No disasters, but it put us in a bad mood, not the goal of going to a nice restaurant on a holiday weekend. The waitress said she hoped the rest of our night was better. It was.

If you want the full story, check out Yelp, where you will find quite a few very similar ones. This place is clearly capable of presenting good food, but certainly not consistently, and service appears to be a real problem.

Good to Great Food — Poor Service, atmosphere and menu. This place used to be a high-liner for Paso. But is has reduced itself to brown paper table coverings and young-ish not-so-into-it staff — all at a premium price. The flatware looked like it came from Denny’s. Our pre-meal drinks arrived totally watered-down and we sent one back. The replacement was not much better. The meal arrived on-time yet our attempt at a “wine with dinner” experience did not happen maybe b/c the bartender was not keeping up with the mediocre pace. The wait staff seemed intent on pushing more drinks. Loud as usual. Under-staffed. Over-priced for the experience. We are locals and will keep dining elsewhere.

I have long sent visitors to this institution for the wine industry professionals on the corner of our city park. The food is OUTSTANDING, from the apps to the desserts and everything in between. On summer nights, get a place on the patio and order a glass of wine. If you want to get the ‘feel’ of the Paso Robles wine region, this place should be your first stop. But it certainly won’t be your last.

Eat here if you like flavorful food with a bit of local flair. Great selection of dishes hard to find elsewhere. Some common items, but with enough twist to make it better than commonplace. Again, everything is loaded with flavor.

Sat outside on another gorgeous California afternoon and devoured butternut squash lasagna and chicken enchiladas. We had to share because we couldn’t decide which was better.

The servers were great and extremely helpful for my large party. The servings of food were actually pretty big for the “class” of restaurant is it!
