The drinks and the food were good but the table set up is not great for eating, even tapas. The tables are very low compared to the seating, think coffee tables, and it’s not all finger foods. The atmosphere is romantic, cozy and dark. I’m old so it was actually too dark for me to read a menu lol, I had to use my phone light! I’d visit again with different expectations and different motives.

My cousin and I visited this Cafe after some thrifting and it was the perfect light lunch. The vibe was cozy and laid back. We sat at the bar and were comfortable, the bar tender was very attentive and our food arrived quickly. I ordered the Elleigh’s Avocado Toast with Smoked Salmon and switched the normal side of waffle chips for their potato salad and it was delicious and fresh. My cousin had the Mahi tacos and said they were also delicious and just the right amount of food. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in the area.

Delicious burgers done exactly as ordered. Great ambience, just like eating at home because I was hovering over a coffee table while sitting on a couch! The Margaritas were very tasty! The bacon is awesome. Next time I’m getting a BLT because of their bacon. I’m looking forward to my 3rd visit…

We’ve had two great experiences now with Cat as our server/bartender. Steve, the owner, was very gracious and friendly as well. Outstanding tapas menu with super fresh ingredients. Very reasonable bottles of wine and excellent cocktails. Definitely recommend a stop if you haven’t been there!

Not one to complain about food ever but this was just not good. I ordered the salmon and avocado toast. The food looked amazing and the chips were to die for. I couldn’t wait try my first bite, but was severely disappointed. The avocado was brown/black. You can’t hide the taste of the rot in the avocado no matter how much garnish and protein you put on it. But more importantly why would you serve that to anyone? I couldn’t even finish my second bite.

The photos online were SO cute and the food looked delicious, but when we walked in… The entire place was empty, yet half the tables were unbussed and covered in dirty napkins and plates. We were told to find a seat in the sea of mess by the only waitress working (who was scrolling on her phone on the couch in the corner when we entered). I don’t even want to know the state of the kitchen. The atmosphere made the menu prices unappetizing ($20 for a burger!). It was just red flags all around and I don’t think the owner would have been happy to see the state of things.
We left without ordering.

This is a review of lunch service, sitting outside. Inside is cute and cozy, with service being as prompt and friendly as needed, not rushed. It’s interesting… is this place a nice bar that serves food? Or a restaurant that also does drinks? The alcohol list is much more extensive than the menu, but that’s not a bad thing at all.
My removal of one star comes from pretty unassuming things but they are important. Our silverware was dirty and napkins had a few crumbs in them. Not dirty like covered in flies, but with water spots and food particles that survived the wash. More gross than actually harmful. The plates are of good quality ceramic, but the flatware itself is pretty boring cafeteria quality. It has been around the block and back again.
Yes I know Heinz is from Pittsburgh. The problem is that it’s packed full of high fructose corn syrup and industrially farmed. It’s not good for you. Wish they had higher quality healthier options from organic brands for the condiments.
The 4 star rating comes mostly, then, from the food which was quite tasty and came out quickly, and from good service.
Finally, think about avoiding the water. Like almost every place in Pittsburgh, the water isn’t actually good to drink. It has dangerous levels of lead and chromium and tastes strongly of the chlorine derivative used to clean it at the source. Not ideal. But absolutely nothing to do with any individual place I review; so it doesn’t affect the stars.
I also reviewed the fanciest places in town and their tap water is the same.
Anyway, lots of small notes here but Lula actually is worth a visit and has tons more options for dinner than lunch, so it’s a steal of a deal for either option. Lunch is incredibly well priced. Nice.

This was the best club sandwich that I’ve ever eaten, hands down. The French onion soup was to die for, and those chips are made with love.
100% will be back. You get spectacular bang for your buck

Everything I get here is good, they don’t miss. Their burger is my go to, but their new menu has mahi tacos that are delicious and every single soup I try is phenomenal and different. Service is attentive and personable, with the owner present every time I’ve been there. It has become my favorite spot in Sewickley.
