I organized a picnic for myself and my husband — the right place and the right food: bought the Fischbrötchen and near by you can sit by the waterfront and enjoy the sunset. There were many fish options to choose from: fresh, salted, fried, marinated and more. The staff was nice, and the food was simple Nordic/German style, but very tasty.

We had fish n chips, and Travewasser.
The fish n chips were great! The crumbed fish was deliciously crispy. They added some sprouts on their homemade remoulade, which was nice.
Pricing: It was a bit pricey (10€ for a plate of fish n chips), for the quantity of food. It would have been worth maybe 6€)
Variety of choices: They have a small list of beers and wines. They sell ice popsicles as well!
Ambience: It’s a food stand next to a resting area with a view of Trave, which is great on a shiny day!

Simply the place to go to enjoy some good fish sandwiches, great fish and chips (loved the spices) and good beer. Don’t bother with a restaurant.

Little, modern shack with very friendly smiley people who trade you fish in a bun for not too much money in exchange. You can then consume your fish directly at the water front in some nice, public, perfectly suitable sitting area. Lovely!

I was on my way to the station, leaving Lubeck after my first visit, and I stopped by curiosity to take a look at this little food stand.
I had there, in the rain, my best meal in this short trip to Hamburg and Lubeck. A fantastic fish sandwish, so fresh, so tasty, it is just tricky to eat cleanly.

Another day in North Germany, another fischbrötschen. And what a great example! Lovely huge Bismarck herring fillets with a fresh, tasty onion and greenery garnish, all in a soft, ciabatta style roll. Highly recommended
