The pizzas were amazing. I have been looking for deep dish pizzas and I must tell you this is the place to go. I have been there about three to four times.

They also have a bar. Would love to try those beer next time.

They have two types of vegetarian pizza Blackbird and Melrose. The size of the pizza is big atleast for 4 to 6 people

The ambience is pretty chill.

Their deep dish pizza is one of the best pizzas I have ever had and it was always consistently great. Great service very friendly, along with an atmosphere I liked. Good draft beers too. Many date nights here spent 30$ to 60$ on my girlfriend and I. Overall we hope they open again soon!

Very chill pizza stop on Melrose. Quick service. Decently long wait time after ordering, but the food was filling and worth the wait and the price. Personal size deep dish pizza is deceptively filling and very good. Squid Ink Pasta took a long while, but was delicious. Decent amount of indoor with some outdoor seating. No wifi of note. Free parking nearby, with paid parking closer. Melrose is a super busy shopping street, so be aware of that and all that brings.

First off, the name Black Bird Pizza should already have you curious on what this place is about. As for the food, well let’s jump right into it… The deep dish is made perfectly and they’ll stuff it with toppings of your choice. The Brooklyn style thin crust pizza was actually some of the best pizza I’ve ever had, as you can see I went with pineapples on one side and traditional pepperoni on the other side. The chicken wings are really really good and I recommend getting them every time you go, only complaint that I have is they don’t offer Ranch they only give you blue cheese. The service is extremely nice and people friendly which is always a plus, last but not least is pricing…. This place is very affordable! You can eat great food and not worry about a huge bill once you’ve finished your meal. Overall, Black Bird Pizza is a must try for any and all Pizza Heads out there who haven’t tried it yet.

Who doesn’t love pizza! Plus, these are some unique little deep dish pies. In all honesty, I’m not a fan of marinara, so for the folks out there who dislike a lot of tomato, be weary. We ordered just one pie for two of us and it was more than enough. I would have like to try more but the pizza is loaded. It had a nice thick layer of tomato sauce and real chunks of tomato still mixed in with pepperoni and a thick layer of mozzarella that pulled apart like in a commercial, mouthwatering. The crust was thin but toasty enough to keep its structure. I loved the baked cloves of garlic and you could still taste the fresh oregano and basil it was topped with. It was so good, but I feel like the tomato was just too much, FOR ME and my stomach. Just my personal opinion. Other than that the food was fairly priced, it was a nice experience dining inside especially once they started playing funk. I will definitely have to return to try something new.

I ordered 3 pizzas from here 5 days ago, and I am still eating them today because each deep dish pizza weighs about 10 pounds solid. I had trouble carrying two stacked up on top of Chingon, and I struggled because they were quite heavy. These babies look small, but they are like solid bricks, although they are yummy. Louie piles on stuff, really really. So for the four people, one or two pizzas may be enough. I know these guys are generous, not skimping on the ingredients. I will definitely go back for more, after I finish the ones I still have. Good stuff

Don’t plan anything strenuous if you’re stopping here for a meal first. The food is amazing and the accompanying food coma is no joke. I had a Spicy Italian and it was wonderful. They are open for dine in and Melrose is a fun place for people watching so sit back, get full, and enjoy the show.

The service was lovely and the food was tasty. My favorite was the roasted beet salad, but I was too hungry to take its picture. I enjoyed the charred brocclini, even though it was a bit too spicy for my taste. The deep dish pizza was 5 pounds of cheesy delight!

Blackbird pizza shop is a quaint dine in restaurant that specializes in their one is a kind deep dish pies. It’s located in the heart of Melrose street and next to many eateries. Parking is easy to find on the side streets, and good thing about this place is it doesn’t get that busy so easy to grab a seat. They have tables and they also welcome walk Ins at the center bar with a wide range of beers and wines.
Service was cool and hip with projectors and cool graffiti and art work on the walls.

The menu is straight to the point deep dish pies and personal signature thing crust pizzas with specialty appetizers, that you would find at a pizza joint.

If you love a low key pizza place this is for you. Also everything is very shareable so be cautious of that!

So to begin, it has been years since I had a Chicago style deep dish pizza to the point where I wouldn’t have a real experience to compare this to. The way I really came to this place was with doubts that I or my company would enjoy the Chicago style deep dish. Well I am here to tell you that if you know ANY nay-sayers of the Chicago deep dish take them to blackbird. They will become believers.

Today I was served by Symphony and Voylkev. Symphony was very attentive to our needs and very sweet, I would have tipped her more but I’m a bit short on money at the moment. Voylkev was working the bar and was a chill personality that was also kind. I’m not sure if Voylkev is how you spell it, he’s been 1 month in the states having come from Ukraine.

So today we came during happy hour and had an IPA, a glass of wine, 2 personal deep dish pizzas, and a plate of hot wings.

I chose the 10% IPA and it tasted as strong as it should, if you want a drink to get buzz going fast there’s your choice. The glass of wine was a red that started with a C and it was rich and smooth.

The plate of wings came with 10 bone in Buffalo wings, some celery sticks, and a cup of blue cheese. The Buffalo wings were great but were definitely spicier than your average Buffalo wings. Keep the blue cheese or the celery stalks handy.

The two pizzas we got were the Mary’s Chicken and the Balls Deep. Both were excellent. The sauce in both were moist and flavorful, there was plenty of cheese, and the crust was quite literally perfect. Very crunchy while providing a strong structure whenever you grabbed a slice. Specifically, the Mary’s chicken had a pesto sauce that combo’d deliciously with the tomato sauce. The chicken also made everything even juicier in just the right way. Meanwhile the Balls Deep has the same basis but instead of adding pesto or chicken, it adds thick meatballs in case you want something more filling.

For prices, I think all the regular prices are great especially since the personal pizza actually is enough for 1 person. So to have happy hour prices, blackbird is an even sweeter deal that anyone wanting to try Chicago style should consider.
