Loved the food ! Very tasty and flavoursome.
Atmosphere was great and the man who served us was lovely and so welcoming.
A definite hidden gem.
We cannot fault the cleanliness and staff, but the food was a huge disappointment. 4 people costing £127. The cost wouldn’t have been an issue had the food been fulfilling. They use way too much red dye. One order was wrong. I’m lactose intolerant and made them aware.
The starter was nice. The naan bread was the best part. The dips were lovely.
A staff member recommended a coconut-based chicken masala, but it arrived in a bright red sauce. I ended up taking the chicken out and not attempting the sauce. My bf ordered a prawn masala, he too just took the prawns out as the sauce was awful. I’ve had very painful stomach cramps for the past 2 days. Will not be returning.
While the order did arrive on time, the bag was ripped and oil was seeping out (onto our floor, carpet and countertop).
Opening the order revealed a monstrosity. All of it was bad. Well the biryani, barely passable at best.
The lowlight was a watery excuse of a “mattar paneer” with no cheese in sight, just a pool of oil. When I spoke with the restaurant, they explained that they don’t in fact use paneer, they use cheddar (so why isn’t it called mattar cheddar, oh yes that would be completely inauthentic…) but it would explain why the cheese had melted although doesn’t explain why it was so watery thin and gross.
I was further accused of calling too late and close to closing time (10pm, we only received our order at 9:20pm), i wouldn’t have wanted a replacement anyway, not least because it would have come at 10:15pm+…
Additionally, I was not offered any sort of resolution or refund, I was told they would speak to “the boss” but I haven’t heard back.
I’ve had the great pleasure of eating some spectacular Indian food, in the 5 years living in Leicester and in India itself.
This food was an insult to not only Indian cuisine but to one of Britain’s favourite foods.
Have some pride.
