I used to love grabbing a grande Oatmilk Shaken Espresso from this Starbucks. It was consistently served in a 16 oz plastic cup, packed with ice (per the recipe), and it has always tasted great. I was totally on board when they started switching to paper cups in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. No complaints there.
However, in the past few visits, I’ve been served this same grande drink in a venti paper cup, packed to the brim with ice. This may seem like a small change, but it completely throws off the drink balance. The portion of espresso and oat milk is still the same, but the extra volume from the larger cup and excessive ice just waters it down. What I got both times was a bland, diluted mess, not the bold, balanced drink I used to look forward to.
For comparison, I recently visited a Starbucks in Las Vegas where I was served the same drink in a proper grande plastic cup which tasted amazing. That made me realize how far off the mark my local stores in Scotts Valley have gotten. Starbucks is a global brand, and consistency should be a core part of the experience, no matter what city you’re in.
No one should be paying $7 for a watery, botched drink that barely resembles what it’s supposed to be. As a former barista myself, I care about how espresso drinks are crafted and this just isn’t it. I even bought my own espresso machine about a year ago, but still made the occasional Starbucks run when I was in a rush. After this, I just don’t want to come back anymore.
Do better, Starbucks. Your loyal customers notice.

Imagine stepping into a serene oasis of relaxation, a Starbucks that exudes tranquility. The moment you enter, the subtle aroma of freshly brewed coffee envelops you, promising a delightful experience ahead. Soft jazz notes mingle with the gentle hum of conversations, creating an ambiance perfect for unwinding.

This Starbucks boasts an impeccable cleanliness that’s evident in every detail, from the polished countertops to the gleaming espresso machines. Sunlight filters through large windows, casting a warm glow on the spotless wooden floors. The baristas move with a graceful efficiency, their white aprons pristine as they craft your perfect cup.

As you order your coffee, you’ll find the menu brimming with enticing options, from classic brews to artisanal blends. The baristas, each with a friendly smile, expertly guide you through the choices. As you sip your coffee, you’ll discover that the flavors are as refined as the environment itself—smooth, comforting, and expertly balanced.

The comfortable seating invites you to linger, whether you’re engrossed in a book, catching up on work, or simply enjoying your beverage. The gentle hum of activity never reaches a crescendo, allowing you to relish the quiet moments.

In this haven of serenity and sophistication, time seems to slow down. The clean, peaceful atmosphere merges seamlessly with the rich coffee aromas, offering you an experience that’s as rejuvenating as it is delicious.

Planned to get a nice grande latte. Fast ordering process and great AC (in this heat). Suddenly the place was filled with kids from the high school (around 215pm on a Wed) and became very noisy and chaotic. I had to wait for quite a while and needed to leave. My coffee took 25 minutes to make! Just as I was going to ask for a refund it was delivered on the counter. The drink was super hot – I had to wait an additional 40 minutes to drink it as it got down to what it should have been. I appreciate that there is a lot of work going on behind the counter with stress and numerous orders, but Starbucks is no longer a coffee place I remotely want to visit anymore. It is some form of modern mutated coffee factory. I’m never going back. Yuck!

I have been going to Starbucks almost everyday for 10+ years and this is the worst experience I’ve ever had. I waited 10 minutes for 3 people to get rung up, no big deal. When I get the line I order the same drink I’ve ordered for 5+ years, this blond girl with curly short hair takes a while to get it in the computer, and after she looks at me and says she can’t do a trenta, so I ask “Oh, you’re out of Trenta cups?” And she states “No, we just don’t do Trenta cups on espresso drink”. I’m obviously confused by this, since it’s a matter of choosing which cup to place the order sticker on. So I ask “I’ve been getting the same drink for years, have each and person that has taken my order before has been doing it wrong?”, and she shrugs. It was the shrug and the look on her face while doing it, a look of slight pleasure. That got me, the way she did it, my words will never do it justice, those were the actions of someone with absolutely zero interest in doing her job, I stated “Thanks” and walked out. Thankfully going to that store is usually an inconvenience…
