I placed my order on December 5th for New Year’s Eve, well in advance, assuming that a company built on holiday meals could handle basic inventory planning. On the morning of December 31st, I received a call informing me that due to an “inventory issue,” there were no prime ribs left. On the day of the event. After weeks of planning.
I was offered a ham as a substitution, but we just had that for Christmas. At that point, I had no choice but to cancel my entire order. Yes, I received a refund—but that was the bare minimum, not a resolution.
This was not just dinner. It was my daughter’s 16th birthday, with 10 people coming to our home. Because of HoneyBaked’s failure, I had to scramble at the last minute and take the entire group out to dinner—at a significantly higher cost and with far more stress than anyone should have to deal with on a milestone birthday.
What’s most frustrating is the complete lack of accountability or effort to make things right. I emailed corporate and spoke with Brett again in Ocala. He literally said, I just don’t think I will make you happy. No gesture of goodwill.
HoneyBaked markets itself as a trusted holiday solution. This experience proved the opposite. If you’re counting on them for an important occasion, be warned: they may leave you empty-handed when it matters most—and won’t do anything to fix it.
I will not be ordering again.
Update 1/6: I was never formally offered a $50 gift card. We began discussing possible options, and the conversation abruptly shifted to being told that I “would never be happy.”
I work in the service industry, and all of my online reviews are 5 stars. I know what good service looks like—and this was not it. What should have happened on the day of the issue was simple: acknowledge that this was a failure and follow up with a gift card or coupon asking me to give your business another chance to make it right.
Instead, nothing was done. When I later reached out for follow-up, you jumped to the conclusion that I could never be satisfied.
As a small business owner, you may want to revisit Honey Baked Ham’s values and guarantee. While you may identify as a small business, you are operating under the umbrella of a national brand—one that understands what customer service and accountability are supposed to look like.
We walked in at 4:40pm for a fast dinner and was told they weren’t serving sandwiches because it was close to closing time.
Seriously? We close at 4pm. But if we have va customer…WE SERVE THEM!
Your closing time states 5pm. You serve until then and please your customers so they COME BACK!
As businesses owners, this was not good business practice or etiquette.
So you just turned away a whole company of business!
Ended up getting lunch. The sandwiches were delicious. Good service.
