We had been wanting to try this place since it is close to our house, and we don’t always want to drive into town. We ordered pick up. It was DELICIOUS! My husband got the birria quesadillas, and I ordered a variety of tacos. Everything was fresh and flavorful! The cheese dip was one of my favorites I have had. It had a bit of a kick! We also ordered churros without the chocolate sauce, and they were fantastic! I am impressed and so surprised they are not busier yet. Especially since the prices are so affordable!

Residing in Tucson, AZ for 7 years taught me the difference between Mexican food and AUTHENTIC Mexican food. The Taco Amigo is SO much better than any Tex Mex or “Mexican” restaurant East of San Antonio. WOW! Starkville is lucky to have these amazing curators who also happen to have super customer service skills.

I’ve been several times and tried a variety of the menu. All of the meats are really good, my favorites have been the pastor, carnitas, barbacoa, and chorizo. The tacos have good tortillas, good portions, and a variety of garnishes.
I tried a steak torta which was really good, quality bread and toppings, but the steak did get a little lost, I’m going to try it with carnitas or pastor next time.
For dips, the salsa has a good flavor and is very spicy. The cheese dip also has a kick and was excellent. Their chips are good quality as well.
One of the stars of the show for me has been the aguas frescas. I’m told they make them fresh in-house daily and both the mango and horchata were excellent, I’m definitely going to come back for those and try the other flavors.
Overall I would definitely recommend checking this place out, it’s great for a quick, affordable lunch or a tasty dinner.
