Francine lives up to the hype. Exquisite dishes thoughtfully plates and prepared. Unique combinations of ingredients that leave you thinking “why hasn’t anyone thought of this yet?”. Absolutely worth a visit for an upscale meal in Camden.

Chip at the bar makes this place tick over. Tremendous atmosphere and excellent food. A tremendous find. Food is terrific but booking a table requires some planning. Don’t try walking in hoping for a table

My husband and I ate at Francine on our anniversary trip this past July and had to go back a second time because it was that good! My husband says it is the best restaurant he has ever been to and he owns a restaurant himself! The food is like art, beautiful presentations and such a unique combinations of flavors. From cocktails, to small dishes, to main dishes, to dessert, we were wowed the entire time. Would definitely recommend it 100 times over!

We arrived at Francine with such high hopes and left a bit disappointed. We were in the first seating and ended up placed at the wrong table – no biggie. Our waiter cordially relocated us to the correct table for two. Francine is one of the growing number of purposely shabby places with mismatched furniture and place settings – fun, if not a bit played out. Our waiter was excellent but the bar service was not. My wife’s martini arrived a good twenty minutes after my beer. This took them down a star.

We purposely decided against an app in favor of dessert, so on to the main course. It should be noted that there are very limited vegetarian options. That being said, my wife was completely satisfied with her halibut as I was with my steak and frites. Both of these preparations would justify Francine’s rep. We decided to share two veg sides, cauliflower and zucchini, and they were mediocre at best. The cauliflower was just plain bland and the zucchini was swimming in oil. It’s difficult to see the chef’s vision here. We saw bland and oily.

On to dessert. Our server really wanted to make up for the tardy martini and brought out a very nice fruit/sweet cream dessert (free of charge). This was a nice touch, except that we had purposely left room for dessert and we wanted to make our own choice. We settled for the freebie with some very good coffee but left wondering what could have been… for dessert.

My wife and I don’t splurge on a place like Francine very often, so when we do, our expectations are quite high (as they should be!). There are few feelings like finishing a dining experience that perfectly meets or exceeds expectations. This was not one of those experiences.

Definitely our favorite restaurant on the coast of Maine. Brian Hill has such an interesting collection of items on the menu. Don’t worry if you can’t get a table you can almost always sit at the bar and watch the kitchen crew at work.

What a dining gem! I had the pan roasted chicken with a ricotta filling. This was by far the most flavorful chicken I have ever eaten. The horseradish sauce took it over the edge. Would highly recommend and look forward to dining there again in the future.

Loved this little bistro! Can’t say enough about it. The building is basically a house, there’s flowers and twinkle lights that make it the best date spot I’ve ever been to. So cute, such good food and drinks. Love love love!

Fresh food, great vibe, amazing cocktails. Never had a bad meal. Standouts are the steak frites and soft shell crab, plus fiddleheads when in season. Specials are always worth it.
