Went with my (very large) theatre group tonight and had a great time! They’re very kind and welcoming. They’re pretty inexpensive too! Highly recommend if you want great food and a great vibe!

First we waited at least 60 minutes for our food. We were notified at one point, it would be right out. 40 minutes later, another 10 or 20 minutes.
We both ordered fajitas – chicken fajitas, came out with absolutely no flavor. Literally nothing, not even from the grill. Plus portion size for 25 bucks very poor. My fajitas Alambre were good, probably double the size of the chicken. Overall, we don’t plan on going back. It wasn’t cheap, portion size for cost was not good for half of the meal. No compensation.

Recently we visited Lalo’s Mexican Grill & Bar for the first time for an early dinner a little after 4PM on a Monday afternoon. The atmosphere, decor, and background Mexican music were enjoyable and quite familiar to the TexMex restaurants we frequented while living in Houston, Texas for about 20 years.

We ordered the Carne Asada and the Carne Sonora entrees along with drinks from the bar. The bar drinks were very good and reasonably priced. We have enjoyed great Mexican grilled beef meals over the decades in other states so we were excited to sample what this restaurant had to offer.

It was so disappointing when we were served our entrees. The grilled beef on both entrees was thin, lacked any seasoning, and was too tough to cut easily. I managed to cut/shred my carne asada and mix pieces with the rice and refried beans in the flour tortillas. While I managed to chew up my grilled beef, my wife could not. There were no grilled or sautéed onions with either entree. The pico de gallo consisted of shredded lettuce, two tomato slices, and a slice of raw onion. Absolutely no flavor. The grilled beef presentation on both entrees was reminiscent of shoe leather.

The service was very good and I tipped our server well. We would have provided her direct feedback but so much gets lost in translation.

The frozen margarita was just what I needed. Ordered the taco platter. Came with 3 tacos. Ordered grilled chicken, steak and pastor. All seasoned and cooked perfectly. Side platter with sour cream, lettuce, tomato and guacamole. Was very tasty. We ate outside and the atmosphere was perfect. Waitress was very attentive without disrupting our conversations.

I’ve traveled quite a bit to northern Mexico. I’ve tried Mexican restaurants around Michigan. Lalos has the BEST burritos. Wow, fantastic. Sit on the patio, have a cold beer and enjoy some awesome food!

I’m still loving this place. We visit every week during the summer and I’m having a lot of fun exploring the menu. Best dish so far has been quesadillas locas. The one “could be better dish” was the fish tacos and that wasn’t bad – we just wished for bigger hunks of fish and cabbage instead of lettuce. My choice tonight was enchiladas locas which was good but would have been excellent with more cheese and enchilada sauce.

This new restaurant is a wonderful addition to the dining options in Ada. Lalos took over a previous high-end tap room and converted it into a Mexican restaurant. Very nice indoor space as well as outdoor dining options. Wonderful food, significant quantity, and very fair prices. This will definitely be a new favorite of mine as Mexican is my favorite type of food. Check it out I think that you will like it.

I wouldn’t eat here unless your car is broken down, your phone is dead, your wallet has been stolen, and all you have left to your name is a Lalo’s gift card. If you’re getting a drink while waiting on a haircut next door then fine, but otherwise do yourself the courtesy of driving to Lowell for your Mexican fare. No forks, no server from whom to request said forks, chicken so rubbery you can only assume it was cooked for a week at 800 degrees. A margarita that had me wondering out loud if canned cocktails were really so bad after all. I know the folks of Ada are tasteless (this is not an insult, lack of taste is of course a sure sign of spiritual attainment), but this is really just too much.
