Madhurai Mess is an absolute the most authentic South Indian food I’ve had in the Seattle area. If you’re looking for the real flavors of Tamil Nadu, look no further. The Elai Parotta (banana leaf-wrapped) was incredible—flaky, tender, and bursting with flavor. The Kumbakonam Filter Coffee is the perfect, aromatic finish to the meal. Beyond the outstanding food, the staff is welcoming and the service is quick and attentive. It truly feels like a meal in a Madurai home. Five stars, hands down

We ordered Jigarthanda Drink, Veg Elai Parotta and Parotta with Chettinad Chicken Curry. The taste of both the dishes are good.
I got super excited when I saw Jingarthanda on their menu and ordered it right away. But it didn’t taste like I thought it would. It’s totally different from what I had in Chennai. It’s way too sweet like sugar syrup. And the almond gum they put in it isn’t fresh.

I ordered Egg biryani and found a cockroach inside my rice dish and a spoiled discolored egg in my order. This is a serious food safety concern and I strongly urge everyone to avoid ordering from this restaurant until health authorities confirm it is safe

Small, cozy South Indian restaurant in Bellevue with truly warm and welcoming staff. They made us feel right at home, and were incredibly kind and attentive to our 2-year-old, which made the whole experience even better.
The parota was perfectly flaky, the mutton curry was rich and flavorful, and the chicken curry had that authentic South Indian spice. We finished with a filter coffee that was honestly one of the best I’ve had in the Seattle area.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic South Indian food and great hospitality!

If you’re looking for a perfect South Indian taste, Madhurai Mess is easily one of the most authentic spots in the Seattle area.
The Ellai Parotta is a must-try—it’s wrapped in a banana leaf and tastes exactly like what you’d find back home. They also offer wide vegetarian options, making it great for everyone.
Pro-tip: Takeout can sometimes take a bit longer than expected during busy hours, but the food is definitely worth the wait. If you want real Tamil Nadu-style flavors, this is the place!

Overall experience is great. Friendly staff and owners. Claypot Chicken Elai Parrotta was really good. Chicken Biryani is mild spicy. But with gravy, it tasted good. Vanjaram Meen Varural was okay, expected more quantity, though. The dessert was really good.

Their Basha Biriyani is by far the best biriyani I have had in the Eastside. Their parotta is perfectly flaky and paired with their chicken curry made for a very satisfying meal. Overall, the portions are generous and the food is very flavorful. We will be regular customers for sure.

Good, authentic Tamil food. The paalgova was good, took me back to my childhood days in Chennai. Family and I had a mutton biryani, medium vadai, iddiappama coconut milk, filter coffee, paalgova, chicken lollipop, chicken sukka, parota, vadai sambar, crab soup. Everything was really good. I will come back.
