Wow! I’m not sure which was better. The absolutely perfect macarons or the surprise-to-find empanadas! I was thrilled to meet the baker and he took a moment to describe the daily bakery schedule. Warning, while they sell hundreds of empanadas per day (you’ll understand why), they do sell out from time to time!

A bakery that’s small but packed with big flavors. It’s best to visit early, G.B. is a popular spot especially for locals. Unique eats like Breakfast Empanadas takes this bakery over the top. This is like a candy store for adults, there is something for everyone. I would pick half a dozen different items and go with it. Items were freshly made and not too overly sweet. I tried the Apple Pie Danish and it was perfect, tasty, flakey and just the right amount of sweetness. Tag that along with a coffee and you’ll be walking on clouds. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed.

We came x2 on our 4 day trip and that’s only because they were closed. The empanadas are sooo exceptionally good. The cheese danishes are like none I have ever eaten before, usually the crusts are dry (at other bakeries )and I’ll just removed them from the cheese portion (I digress) but these danishes crust are unbelievably delicious. the disappointment of going home and not being able to enjoy this wonderful bakery is the saddest part of our departure. It will be our first stop when we return!

I was visiting Galena and love a good coffee shop & bakery. I’m SO glad I stopped into Galena Bakehouse! I ended up going there twice! The empanadas were perfectly flaky and delicious. I tried an apple pie danish fresh – AMAZING. I also got a raspberry cream cheese croissant danish to have the next day and it was still delicious the next day out of the fridge! Cold brew was good and not bitter at all. The cinnamon toast crunch latte was not overly sweet and tasted great with oat milk. On my first visit, one of the owners was doing the coffee bar so I got to chat with him for a few minutes while I waited for my coffee and he was so sweet. I can’t wait to come back to Galena and stop here every day ☺️

We lucked out and made this our first stop on a very cold day. We each ordered the croissant-dough danish, and I don’t know if I’ve ever enjoyed a better pastry in my life. And I don’t know if I am worthy to have enjoyed that one. If I had any complaints, it would be that the size of the small shop isn’t conducive to getting customers in and out quickly (but believe me, you won’t be sorry), and the number of delicious-looking options is overwhelming.

Absolute must stop, get there early before all the best seller sell out! We tried the egg/sausage/cheese empanada, raspberry/cheese danish, ice Carmel macchiato, and grabbed some macaroons to go! Everything was delicious and the service was great!

This place is worth the hype! My husband and I visited before we left town to go back home. We each got an empanada and enjoyed both of them. The crust is so flaky and buttery! I got the cheese bread and a cinnamon roll, both very delicious! My husband got a cherry scone which he liked too. And we each got a black coffee, pretty tasty!
We got there right when they opened so everything was fresh and still hot! Definitely recommend! We didn’t take any pictures as we were too excited!
