Reviews
**Edit for review of catfish and chicken and waffles at the end.
My husband and I went last Friday (12-12) to try the place out. They were very busy with dine in and carry out orders. I’m glad they started advertising because we hadn’t even heard about the place until yesterday.
The building is a former mechanic’s garage. It’s not a luxury dining establishment but is clean and well maintained. The decor is what you would expect. I felt right at home.
The women’s restroom was suitable for the type of building.
Pros:
The owners are very nice and attentive to the patrons.
Tenderloin was delicious. They are cut from a loin at time of order and dredged before frying. The breading has just the right amount of seasoning. The tenderloin is not pounded super thin like a lot of places. I would guess it’s about 2″ thick. It was moist but not greasy.
Cons:
The burgers are thin boughten patties and lack flavor.
Buns: They definitely need to find better buns to serve sandwiches on. They are dry and crumbly.
We waited for over an hour to get our food but later found out they sold a crazy amount of food that day. I know a lot of people would say that’s no excuse but there is a learning curve so give them a try. I have to say that the tenderloin was worth it if you can plan on some extra time.
Pro/Con combo:
I ordered a burger and it was way over cooked and dry. I made mention to our server and they cooked me another one. I wish they would have asked before doing so but it was nice of them. The replacement burger was much better but I still didn’t care for it.
Water is bottled for $1.
Another pro/con for me, the fries. I enjoyed that they were fresh cut but since they are cut tiny you get more grease than potato.
Because I used to run a restraunt and worked in the medical field, this is a big pet peeve of mine everywhere I go. Just because you have gloves on doesn’t mean you can operate inside and outside of the food area without washing hands and putting new gloves on.
I also did not like that customers had to go to the food window to pay their ticket. That needs addressed in my book.
Conclusion:
We will definitely be going back to try the wings and catfish. I’m sure another tenderloin will be on the agenda also.
***Edit
We went back and my husband had chicken and waffles and he enjoyed that. Said the chicken batter was well seasoned and didn’t flake off of the chicken. He said the waffle was nothing to brag about but a decent one.
I had catfish and mac and cheese. I was disappointed in both items. The fish was very muddy and lacked flavor other than muddy fishy fish. Some of you know what I mean when I say that. The mac and cheese was hot but was just a mushy pile of noodles with lots of cheese.
They have added new items to the menu.
We will be returning for another tenderloin but I’m having onion rings this time.
If you like tenderloins, I strongly recommend you give them a try.
Get there early. The line can be long.
