Rose understands food, and everything she serves is very real.
the green beans are cooked fresh every order with garlic and olive oil, complete with a show of flames bouncing around as she effortlessly flips them over in the pan.
Extra small juicy chickens are cooked right in front of you complete with her own special sauce. The smell of this chicken is how we became friends.
The salad has always been fresh, simple, and delicious. Complete with dressing made in house. no packets or premade anything.
the fries are cut potatoes in water ready to go in the fryer

The food here is genuinely delicious.
The woman is a hard working single mother doing her very best to introduce the portugese culture, and herself to the world. She remains a bright shining light among the lifeless, corporate, chain, and processed food providers that are taking over. I have met dozens of people that eat here multiple times a month without fail, and some drive very far.

Rose does her best and delivers consistently excellent, real food every single time like nowhere I have ever been. Don’t hesitate if you get the opportunity to eat here.

Upon reading the reviews, I was delighted to discover that Portuguese cuisine was nearby! I was stationed near Portugal and enjoyed the food when I visited. Rose, the owner and chef, reminds me of home–she is funny, lively, and authentic. She is as enjoyable as the meals she creates.
Since dining the first time, I returned twice in one week, then on at least a biweekly basis. My husband and family are hooked, too! The food is fresh, delicious, and affordable. While we repeatedly consumed the 1/4 dark chicken, beef pastry, green beans, cod fritters, and rice–we’ve only just begun–we plan to sample everything she offers. The staff is warm and professional. The atmosphere is simple, clean, and comfortable. Head to Little Portugal now!

Great little spot for no frills, Portuguese-inspired food.

Very clean place with attentive service.

This was our first exposure to Portuguese food. The chicken was prepared well, and I enjoyed both the chicken and ground beef empanadas. Fresh salad on the side.

The staff was so nice and the chicken was amazing! Fries were perfectly salted and fried, green beans were delicious. We also had a milk custard tart which was phenomenal. Will definitely come back

I work in food & I only leave reviews when I feel I can actually be helpful.

Pros: the roll for the bifana was wonderful. The ground beef puff was really nicely flavored. The custard cup (not the pasteis de nata- they were sold out, and for good reason!) was outstanding. The chicken & fries were nicely cooked & the aioli was great too.

The cons, which overwhelmed all of the pros:
-the tables were dirty on arrival. We picked the least dirty one. Only 2 people working (one server, one cook) so I get it.
-the hot sauce bottle & salt/pepper shakers on the table were also dirty & sticky. This is server side work that should be done between rush regardless of how staffed it is.
-having an open kitchen means work convos are audible to guests. Our server was pretty loudly venting to the cook about her love life (I think) to the point where my toddler asked what she’s angry about. This went on the entirety of our meal.
-the server didn’t check on us for refills or any other needs until we were basically done eating. We were the only guests at this point. The venting session might be the reason- not sure. Also the co2 was out on the machine (so was the ice), so we were served from cans. No biggie, but that should be handled before it becomes an issue.
-We asked 2 menu questions that seemed to sort of annoy the server. She also kind of snarkily asked if we want to order food for our 2 kids. I think it was harmless, but it felt in bad taste since we were just munching and planned to split it all between the 4 of us— we ordered 2 entrees & a pastry because it was between lunch and dinner & we just wanted to try this place out. The question just put us off a bit.
-The bifana sandwich is advertised as a pork cutlet sandwich, but what arrived was more like pulled/chopped pork. No biggie- just was confused.
-I’d bet my life that the Caesar salad dressing was Olive Garden creamy Italian dressing that they put into condiment cups.
-Cost vs serving size felt very off. Costs are up for everyone everywhere, so I get it, but we felt sort of gipped. Prices are comparable to Garibaldi, and you get WAY more food there.
-It took about 45 minutes for our food to come out. It wasn’t busy. I think they’re just understaffed. Only one person in the kitchen.
-Before we got our food, I noticed another guest get annoyed with the server because her order was brought out as a to-go order when she ordered it to be eaten there. I think this server was just totally focused on talking to the cook.

None of these things are super offensive on their own, but it all worked together to totally kill the entire vibe for us all. The reviews didn’t reflect the experience we had at all.

I really try to be thorough and fair, and like I said, I only leave a review if it’s helpful. I promise I don’t mean to be petty or picky. Everyone has off days, but between the cost vs serving size + slow, subpar service, this was our first and only visit.

I wish this owner luck. The food deserves better business acumen than what is currently at play here.

Little Portugal is seriously amazing!! The food was sooo good and full of flavor!! Everything tasted super fresh. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the ladies working there are the sweetest ever! The service was great, and when our food took a little longer to come out, they even gave us drinks on the house, which was so kind of them. The prices are also really reasonable for how good the food is. Definitely recommend!! Such a great spot!! ✨

Absolutely delicious! We ordered to go and sat at the bar while waiting and had a wonderful conversation with the owner. Kind owner and delicious food! Highly recommend the garlic shrimp with rice and green beans, cod sandwich with potato salad, and Rib eye sandwich. The dessert custards are a must!!

This place is absolutely amazing! The owner, Rosemary, is awesome. I’ve been going to this hidden gem for about 3 years now and the food has been consistently amazing. Rosemary and her team make sure you are satisfied with your meal. Everything is good which makes it so hard to decide what to order. This time we ordered the Picadinho and Fried Codfish – Peixe Frito Sand. You can tell from the pictures we were more concerned with eating then taking photos for our review . Also, I want to make sure I state that I’m black and have never experienced any sort of racism here. Rosemary always shows great respect for all people regardless of their race or gender etc. This is by far one of my favorite spots in the area!
