Wanted to try this out as it was new this year and we wanted a good steak night out.
The atmosphere was really nice. The service was really great. We were seated immediately. Nice, big open bar area as well.
The food was delicious. We had the country fried steak, just thought what the heck. Instead of a big steak, we had that and it was delicious. A little salty, but really good flavor as you’d expect, and the meat was so tender, perfect. I had the Caesar salad with white anchovies. You rarely, I mean, rarely see that ever, which is the authentic Anchovy to have, so delicious. The dressing was obviously homemade. The best Caesar I’ve had in many years. Thank you. The cream, corn was okay, not my thing. But wasn’t bad.

Brunch was amazing! Cornbread was delicious, beignets were yummy, and main dishes my family tried were great! Our server was great. Service was fast. Brunch atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. We’ll definitely come back!

My friends & I wanted to try this place since everyone at Old Edwards recommended it to us, and we loved everything, from the entrees and drinks to the desserts.

I liked everything about this place! My wife and I tried caviar for the first time and it didn’t disappoint, the accoutrements were not even needed though they were delicious. This was a special menu item for the new year and we got the last one! The rest of the brunch was delicious as well, this place will be a stop every time I visit Highlands.

Fun and lively atmosphere! Friendly staff and very attentive. Great cocktails and wine list. Everything we had was delicious… oyster special, country fried beef tenderloin (so good!), chicken sandwich for lunch and ribeye for dinner. Beignets for brunch! (We ate here a few times during our visit! Great portions! Always a favorite!

New brunch menu was awesome; plenty of choices. We had deviled egss with smoked NC trout on top and then the shaved prime rib sandwich (glorified french dip). Will bring this back into our list of Highlands go to restaurants. Keep it going….

Had a really great meal for six. The fried brussels sprouts are the best I’ve had. Staff was attentive without hovering. Wedge salad was huge and tasty. Don’t sleep on the double cut pork chop.

Came in for brunch & had Caroline as our server. She was amazing & very accommodating; considering the mishaps from #1 The bar, specifically on how to prepare a skinny mezcal margarita & not just give a customer a glass of sour lime juice over ice… Twice! (Although, the bloody mary was mixed well) and, #2 The owner not fixing their espresso/cappuccino machine in months The food was prepared well. The oysters were fresh. The deviled eggs could’ve benefitted with a piece of that honey pepper bacon instead, because it was quite bland. The crab cake was generous & had a nice kick. The trout sandwich was cooked perfectly & that honey pepper bacon is amazing! They were out of the chocolate brownie dessert, so we settled on the chocolate fudge/caramel swirl ice cream. It tasted just like Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

What a surprise Primary Restaurant and Bar was! We were passing through Highlands, NC, and decided to stop in for a bite for lunch before going back to the lowlands.
The decor and atmosphere are fabulous and what a great bar area! The lounges off each side of the bar are perfect for drinks with friends.
We had the fried chicken sandwich and wagyu burger, and both were great. Good seasoning and cooked perfectly. And funny enough, we both voted the house made potato chips THE BEST ON THE PLANET! (And we’ve had a lot.) Our server, Ross, was very friendly and did a great job also.
Highly recommended all the way around!

We enjoyed a lunch on a busy day. For us, it was taking a break to have a drink and share a small bit while shopping a few hours before dinner. Drinks were great. Service and atmosphere were great sitting at the bar. Tuna tartare presentation and actual dish one of my all time favs. Fresh tuna and avocado, crab, black fish eggs, a mayo type mild chipotle aioli and a soy type smear dressing with wonton crisps. That is my all time favorite type presentation for tuna tartare. Wonton crisps with the pairings included in this dish is totally amazing.
