I have been twice. The first time I had the special – salmon with a caper sauce. The salmon was perfectly cooked, but the sauce over powered the fish. It made me think the chef is not thinking about balancing flavors. Second time the salmon and caper sauce was a special again – hmm! I had gnocchi with Bolognese sauce this time. The beef the Bolognese tasted old, ropey and over cooked. I will never go back here. Too bad I moved to Novato six months ago.

I hope this was just a one time thing. They were understaffed when we got there and the hostess was also waiting on tables. She got my order wrong and was working to replace it. I felt bad and offered to just eat the Spaghetti Bolognese instead of the Vongole that I ordered. Apparently, the chef yelled at her because of it, and she delivered the pasta stone faced and ignored me when I asked for come Parm cheese. She tripped over her feet, stopped, and let out a blood curdling scream in the middle of the dining room. I she never experienced anything like it and was completely embarrassed. I think she quit and left. The new server tried to serve me the correct order after I had the Bolognese in front of me but I had lost my appetite by then. She explained that she had to leave her daughter’s birthday to come to work. Way too much information and drama for me to enjoy the evening. I suddenly wasn’t hungry and took my entree to go.

The deep fried Brussels sprouts appetizer were excellent, and my wife enjoyed her salmon. The portions were large. There was three times more mashed potato and vegetables than salmon.

What an amazing restaurant and experience.

My wife and I went there for our anniversary and wanted something that was a little different than our usual family/kid-friendly style restaurant and heard great things about Chianti Cucina so we gave it a shot.

I’m glad we did.

Upon entering it has a cozy, old world and dare I say…somewhat romantic atmosphere(?). However, the floors are tile and it stays busy so it might be loud if you go in peak times. The service makes up for it in every metric though. Our server was very attentive, very knowledgeable regarding the food and wine menu and she was fast! I was actually surprised, I don’t mind a dining experience that is a little slower paced when I’m on date night.

The food is so flippin’ good! I had a Ravioli special with short rib and a pomodoro sauce and the flavors were just spectacular! The quality of the dish was probably the finest pasta dish i’ve had in Novato. The freshness of the tomatoes in the sauce, the fresh herb medley on top with a slight sprinkling of parmesan really balanced out the heavier cheese/short rib ravioli base. The whole thing had a nice blend of flavors. I topped it off with a Napa wine. My wife chose an italian wine, I was not as daring lol.

If we had more time and more space I would definitely try some dessert. Next time for sure!

I can’t wait to go back.

Food was good as you can tell by the empty plate. They are accommodatimg special requests like a half and half pizza. I used to come more often when they had a different Groupon deal and thought I would try it again after two years but it’s still really noisy and dark with the lights flickering at times as if they were going out.

Lovely staff, authentic really delicious Italian food, I was a little sad that the fireplace wasn’t on and it was a little dark but definitely had an authentic feel, The food and service was great, and I would recommend this place.

Dimly/romantically lit, old school Italian restaurant with an excellent Bolagnese sauce and pizza that has an airy crust with a slight bite. We were impressed with the generous servings, including the enormous spumoni. My husband said the iced tea was fresh & delicious. We are visitors to the area who are delighted we found this restaurant.

The food has always been good, however the arrogant attitude suggests, customers are not valued! Tried to order 1 entree, and was told no take out service, Fathers Day! 1 entree? Recovering from surgery, too bad. Our Novato is limited in selections for dining and to turn away a reg cust suggests an arrogance that dissappoints. My food has been good but managing the flow is important, 1 entree? Vented! Happy Father’s Day! Oh Aurora took my order , first time going, but felt appreciated as a customer!
