Really amazing food. Solid family-run place. Servings were generous and unpretentious. The salsa had a little kick to it for the nachos, so not afraid with spices. The three provided optional serve-yourself sauces had the perfect range of spice and flavor, and appeared to be made in-house as well. Definitely recommend.

I just had the mixed grill fajita tonight and it was incredible, the chicken and beef are the cats meow. The customer service is the best, the staff are so friendly and generous. I haven’t actually been to the store yet, but met staff at the food truck the week before last and one of our housemates also raves about the service. So glad J and J came to Mount Rainier!

I do not regret coming to J&J Mex Tex taqueria today. The staff were very friendly and I like the music they play, it’s very uplifting and encouraging. The food was flavorful, and I would definitely recommend my friends and family to eat here! Great place in the DMV.

Very fresh delicious food. Ordered Tilapia and Tacos Birria and it was excellent. Ordered pickup and it was ready in 15 min. Parking for pickup is hit or miss so take someone with you to run in and pickup. Or walk – easy from MtRainier or parts of Woodridge. This is very high quality authentic food. We’re so happy to have them in the neighborhood!!

I’m not a foodie but I know my tacos and I’m extremely picky. Comes from havibg lived in Texas. So when I saw this new taco place I was very curious. Stopped by and went for lengua, Campechanos, and pollo. I was very pleasantly surprised. Protein was not overdone and seasoning was spot on. Of course the real test will be my dad. But I liked this spot so much that I’m gonna bring him. Him I don’t take anywhere unless I know it’s good. I am definitely coming back. Here’s wishing these guys a lot of luck and success. Given the quality I suspect they’ll have no problem finding success. With food, it’s either good or it’s not and that’ll determine success. Buen provecho! (Bon appetit for you non Spanish speakers).

On 11/21/23, I regretfully opted for this branch instead of my usual Brentwood choice. My order, shrimp and chicken combo fajitas with a burrito, turned out to be a disappointment. Despite paying extra for avocado slices and pico de gallo, both were missing. Strangely, tortillas, as indicated in the description, were absent too.
Attempting to address the issue, I faced difficulty reaching the restaurant; it took three tries before someone answered. The staff member seemed oblivious to his role, and when I explained the situation, he struggled to offer a solution. His advice was to mention missing items in the comments for a future order, a suggestion rendered comical by their failure to check order notes this time.
This experience, intended as a personal treat before preparing a Thanksgiving meal for the family, proved dishearteningly mediocre. A disappointing encounter that ensures I won’t be returning.

I order takeout..and got the sample box… this was sooo heavy. Everything was so delicious… everything was fresh and flavored so well. Very well packaged you can clearly see they care about the food.. Will be back!
