Last Saturday i came in with my family. Food was very well seasoned and tasty, but the service needs 90% improvement. My family and I walked in, and the cooks and the ladies at the front were having a conversation. They took their time to finish chatting. The lady waited on us and said, ‘Sit wherever you like.’ She didn’t smile or greet us, and it seemed like she wasn’t happy to be there. I got up to ask for extra water and later to request an extra plate since I was sharing a molcajete with my son. Prices are okay, but the service doesn’t motivate me to recommend or even come back. As a local, I’ve only visited this restaurant twice in 20 years. We were paying customers, and it felt like we weren’t important.

We stopped in to try this place out for some lunch, we had herd from a few people we work with how good it was. So the service was good, with nice outdoor seating right by the street so you can watch the cars drive by. The food was alright, but it could definitely use some more seasoning that would really make it a lot better.

I’ve been here twice, the first time I ordered their shrimp and octopus cocktail and it was bland and underwhelming. The second time I had their tacos, and it was only because our favorite vallejo taco truck wouldn’t open for another hour and we were starving

I ordered 3 tacos: carne asada, cabesa, al pastor.

The tacos are very loaded, on that note, the carne asada was dry, hard and overcooked, no flavor. Same for the Al pastor. The cabesa taco was the only one that had some sort of flavor and texture.

BF had the enchiladas, he said they were alright, nothing special.

Would definitely not give this place a 3rd try.

Oh and, one final thing, if you pay with a card, they add an additional 3.25% as a fee.

Maybe it was a bad day for service. The food was good but because how bad the service was I probably wouldn’t go back. We almost felt like we should go inside and ask for what we needed. The waitresses barely came out to attend tables. Wait for the food was long and came out at different times.
Patio is nice and bright. July visit.

I went here to try the food however before I can even order i spoke to the cashier very friendly and she responded very dry and very non friendly I then proceeded to politely walk right on out I suggest hiring a more professional and customer friendly staff to EVERYONE in the future

When I die, I want to come back as their Chicken Fajitas. I want to be that juicy, amazing and delicious! I want to be cooked by those amazing chefs and served by their fantastic waitresses. Only down side of being their fajitas may be the location. We were accosted by a homeless man while trying to enjoy our meal on the patio.

All that being said…fantastic place!

This place is now called Los Molcajetes Restaurant and Taqueria.

It is one of the few places in town open until 1 a.m., and I think it’s the only sit-down restaurant that’s open that late.

The restaurant itself is inside of an old style Taco Bell. So the nostalgia Factor is pretty cool.

I purchased a steak burrito, it was a super burrito version, and I asked for it “wet”. When it came out it was huge, I’m a big guy, and I was only able to eat half of it, taking the other half home for later.

The contents of the burrito were really good, I had steak in mine. My only complaint was the red sauce they poured over it on the outside tasted more like pizza sauce than it did enchilada sauce or something like that. It was more sweet. That’s not my preference but it was still good.

Like most Mexican restaurants, if you eat in, you’re served with complimentary chips and salsa. Their green salsa was really good, and had a good spicy kick to it.

Contrary to other reviews I’ve seen, the staff was very friendly, and accommodating.

They also have a food truck right outside with the same name on it. I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that is, but both of them are open until 1:00 a.m. each day.

The only complaint I have about the restaurant which I’ve also seen in a couple other reviews, is their ventilation system sucks. I was in there for probably about 45 minutes total. And three different times the entire restaurant filled up with smoke. The first two times it was very minor, and you can tell it was like when they put the meat onto the flat grill.

The third time though, which happened just as I was getting ready to leave already, filled the entire restaurant with smoke, that was so thick, that you could see it being held in by the ceiling and starting to roll and drop down and it had a very weird cleaner or sanitizer scent to it.

I’m not sure what that was, but I cannot imagine it being healthy. It just smelled like chemicals. It was bad enough that you could not hold a conversation without coughing.

All three incidents took place and originated from the grill area. They really need to fix the hood fans above the grill area, so it will ventilate, there’s really no excuse for that. It was really ridiculous.

Everything else about my visit was great. They have a really nice patio outdoor seating area, so from now on, that’s where I will be sitting.

Carne asada fries half the portion size of your average taquerias. Service is a zero. If you do go prepare to order in Spanish to make sure your order is correct.

I’m not lying when I say that today I had the best enchilada I’ve had in my life. It was a work of art. The enchilada sauce was PERFECT and the pastor was tender and yummy. My boyfriend got steak fries and they were excellent too! The cheese sauce was super flavorful and had a tiny bit of spice- just enough to notice it. The steak had no grisly or fatty bits, just perfect. Free chips and bean dip with your meal when you eat there 🙂 Couldn’t be more thrilled with this food! Not expensive, great portions, and absolutely delicious. There’s nothing gimmick-y or fancy about it, and I like that. It really is a family place, so you can tell that they cook with love. I will be back!!!
