Finally a different Mexican experience.

I was hoping for more items like lengua and cabeza, but other than that….Wow. I’m not knocking all the texmex in town, most places do a good job but really it’s all the same and pretty cookie cutter. Tacuba has a lot going for it. The dishes were all well composed and well made. Birria was very meaty. The Huevos con Chorizo (which I asked for fried instead of scrambled) was very homey. Flautas were really well made. Fish tacos looked great (I didn’t try them) and, not pictured, excellent wings. The star for me was the Street Nachos….wow. Yes, really good queso, melted cheese, nachos BUT tons of greens. It was almost a salad. Really excellent.

To top this all off, atmosphere. Not loud, traditional music, mid-upscale decor. Fantastic service and attentiveness.

¡Más sabroso que el desayuno de la abuela!

CaFé Tacuba is hands-down the place to start your morning if you’re craving something auténtico, delicioso, and full of sabor. The moment you walk in, you feel like you’re being hugged by Mexico itself, from the colorful decor to the warm smiles of the staff.

Speaking of the staff, they’re on it. Attentive, friendly, and always serving with a great attitude, like they actually enjoy being there (crazy, right?). It’s like having tías and primos bringing you food with love.

Let’s talk food.
The presentation? Fancy enough to make your camera eat first.
The flavor? Like angels in sombreros dancing on your tongue.
The portions? Generous enough to feed your soul and your cousin who “wasn’t hungry.”
And the prices? Let’s just say you’ll leave full without your wallet crying like a novela character.

Honestly, it’s rare to find a place where the value, the vibes, and the vermicelli (yes, they even make the fideo soup right) are all on point. Whether you’re in the mood for some chilaquiles that slap harder than your mom when you sass her, or a café de olla that tastes like it came straight from the rancho, this is your spot.

TL;DR:
If you’re not starting your weekend with CaFé Tacuba, are you even living right? ☕️

Wow wow wow!!! This is a delicious hidden gem in Cedar Rapids! The food here is excellent. On Sundays, their breakfast is served until 1pm. This was great for us. We ended up trying their pancakes, coffee, breakfast tamales, a breakfast skillet and the fajita omelette. EVERYTHING was incredible. The pancake was soft and delicate, the skillet was fresh and cheesy, the tamales are stuffed with meat and the omelette just has no words. This was probably the best omelette and skillet we’ve ever had. To top it off, the verde is amazing. You must get this. The coffee section is massive and delicious. I couldn’t believe how great this was. Even the chips and salsa were to die for. The space is smaller, but decorated beautifully and fun. The service was also very good and attentive. The menu is also huge and you have tons of unique things to choose from. I will be back and will encourage people to visit here.

Yesterday was probably the fourth time we have eaten there. Pleasant and helpful staff. Nice array of flavorful Mexican dishes. Good chips – got a flight of 3 salsas – great flavors! (House salsa is excellent – the flight was for fun). Al Pastor was excellent; will try birria next time.

Decided to stop by for breakfast while in the area and was pleasantly surprised. The coffee and drinks were good, there was a wide selection. We all had a hard time deciding on what to get for food, there were so many choices. French toast and Kori Skillet were both great and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Portions were generous and we all left satisfied. Definitely will try lunch or dinner next time we are in the area. Highly recommend you give it a try!

Some of the best french toast we have had at a restaurant! Mucha Toxica is my favorite espresso drink to get and the mimosas were strong.

Loved our breakfast! We love all three of the restaurants (that i know of) owned and operated by these guys! The salsa verde was to die for, my boyfriend joked about drinking it at the end. I wasn’t a huge fan of the pancakes, I felt they were a little too chewy for me. But the skillet more than made up for that. The vibe was amazing and pur server was great. Will definitely go back

I needed a beer after running around promoting my new business and this was a very happy place. Got a Modelo Negra. They gave me chips and salsa with it!
Great people. Going to take wife here!

We waited for over an hour for a table which was fine we chose to wait. We kept an eye on the table order as we were put on the list. We noticed we were #1 on the list for 20 minutes before we were even sent a text. People were still at tables when we arrived and when we left. I’m not a restaurant owner and I would assume having a conversation with people telling them hey it’s time to go we have other customers waiting is pretty tough to have. You dont care to make customers wait a crazy amount of time though? Food for thought. I won’t be back.

The food here is great. Unfortunately the service is miserable. I came here two other times and there is a gentleman server/bartender that is incredibly rude. Today I called to try to put in an order at 10:30 because they’ve told me the Gorditas take 30 minutes. I tried to plan ahead for a get together. I was informed to call at 11 when dinner starts. I called at 11:06 and was told one minute to put in a pickup order. I then waited 25 minutes before I finally hung up as I felt like they forgot. I tried calling multiple times to put in an order. The line was busy as if they’d forgotten someone was on there. I then placed an order online. Through Uber Eats just to be told that they cancelled it due to the kitchen being busy and that they don’t use Uber. . I won’t be back.
