so happy that a place like this exists in staten island! love the interior of the place, it feels like you stepped into your chic grandmas kitchen. they have an extensive menu and will definitely need to come back to try more. we got the hot honey chicken and french toast (very crispy and a perfect blend of savory and sweet, potato pierogis (soft and yummy), latkes with smoked salmon. we enjoyed our meal very much and can’t wait to come back.

Discovered this restaurant because of a vague request from my fiancé: “I want soup right now”

And me being the good bean that I am, went on a Google Maps hunt for some soup. Invitations to a diner, Chinese restaurant, or other similar establishments serving soup were declined. “No soup 4 u” I almost said to her, until I stumbled on this restaurant.

We walked away vowing to return whenever we were in this crack of Staten Island (I’m from Brooklyn, so I’m allowed to refer to SI like this. Ty).

Atmosphere is something akin to a babushka’s dining room, really nice. Pictures of people you’ve never met on the wall and everything. We got the perogies to start…boiled, 5 of them. A preview of things to come. Overall excellent, if you put a gun to my head, I’d say maybe add some milk/butter to the potato mixture inside to make them smoother. Sue me.

Pastrami here borders that of the legendary Katz…tender, juicy, well seasoned. It’s also under 1/2 the price. She had the Big “Dill” Combo meal (half pastrami sandwich, bowl of Matzo ball soup, coleslaw, pickle) and I had the Pastrami dinner (whole sandwich, fries, coleslaw, pickle). Everything was incredible. She actually offered to share the soup with me because it was that good….true love after all ! Katz charges $29 for a full sandwich…I paid $25 my pastrami dinner.

We were taken aback by how quiet it was. No one was in this restaurant…our waiter whispered, so we whispered. She told us it was a hidden gem…and it most certainly is.

It was love at first bite! Super tasty food, I got the fried chicken sandwich for lunch. They delivered on time. Definitely recommending! Can’t wait to try the perogies!

Sandwich and Pickle is a cozy gem on Staten Island! The pastrami sandwich on rye was stacked high and flavorful (great hand-cut meat), and the Reuben was solid with tangy sauerkraut. Food is tasty and comforting, though portions could be bigger for the price. Service was friendly and attentive—staff made us feel welcome. Atmosphere is the star: vintage, homey decor like grandma’s kitchen, warm and inviting—perfect for a relaxed deli meal. Highly recommend for classic NY deli vibes!

Very cute place. Was excited to try it with friends. We waited over 40 mins for food to arrive once we ordered. When I received my order (French toast), it was cold & hard. I didn’t touch it and received 50% off. I tasted my friends’ pancakes, and they left weird aftertaste. Not pictured are pastrami sandwiches, which were too thick and dry for our liking.

Pastrami could go toe-to-toe with the best. Flavorful soup and sides. Perfect coffee. Generous portions. Great aesthetic. Destination worthy!

The food was okay, but there were a few things I really didn’t like. There was a strong oily smell coming from the pan, which was off-putting. The sandwich itself tasted pretty bland overall.

I ordered apple juice and was surprised it was just bottled juice—the kind you can get at Costco. It did taste good, but it wasn’t what I expected when ordering. Service was mid at best. I had to wait a while just to ask for salt and pepper, and the staff didn’t really smile or feel welcoming.

Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t meet expectations cuz I had a good one in Canada so I was thinking maybe in Staten Island would be good too but yeah.

Very friendly staff, let me customize my order without hesitation. Has actual brewed iced tea, not from a coffee machine. Definitely get a single latke, they were fresh and crispy. Corned beef and pastrami sammy was great too. More thinly sliced than a Katz for example. Next time need to do afternoon tea.

Absolutely LOVE the food and beverages here. The quality really shines through, making every bite, every sip beyond delicious. There are no words to capture how beautifully crafted the food is here, ESPECIALLY the pastrami. Always looking forward to coming back to try other menu items.
