I originally gave them a 4 but after last nights dinner and service, they definitely deserve a 5! When you come to Sal’s you immediately feel like family because Jack, Sal and Tom welcome you in with open arms! A.j. tends to you right away with a big smile and Delfino and Pedro are on point with the water, bread and side service. Jesenia is such a sweet, kind soul and Maritza is amazing! Maritza gives a different kind of attention and she exudes professionalism, humility and gentleness being extra courteous and very knowledgeable in the menu. The prices are extremely reasonable and this has quickly become our new family restaurant. We had burrata with tomatoes, clams, ravioli, chicken parm, steak sandwich and delicious drinks made by the wonderful A.j. & beautiful Maritza. Always giving extra love They’re sauce is one of the best we’ve had! It’s chunky, salty, sweet and perfect all in one bite and the chicken parm in vodka sauce is off the hook! The company and I very much enjoyed Sal’s bistro and bar. The food was excellent, the pork chop was very juicy, the server was very attentive, the atmosphere was very nice, a lot of couples there and it was a very quiet atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back.

Celebrated a dinner party for two birthdays at Sal’s Bistro & Bar and overall we had a great night—especially thanks to our server Matt.
From the moment we sat down, Matt was genuinely kind, welcoming, and professional. He greeted our whole party perfectly and took the time to tell everyone the specials in a way that actually made you excited to order. A lot of what we ended up choosing (through the other server Matt was working with) was because of Matt’s suggestions—he shared his favorite items and what he highly recommends, and he was not wrong. The appetizers, the dishes he recommended, and the drinks were all amazing.
That said, we did have some service hiccups when Devin took our food order. When everyone’s food came out, we were still missing some entrées. Matt came right over, apologized, and reassured us the kitchen had us at high priority, which really helped and was handled with care.
Also, there was a lady (I unfortunately can’t remember her name) who was very nice and did our wine service very professionally.
Later on, after Matt took our dessert orders and brought them out, Devin took our drink orders—but the drinks took a long time to arrive, as if he forgot. I finally asked the lady when our drinks would be taken, and believe it or not, after I mentioned it, Devin came back and took our orders again… and then the drinks came out.
Bottom line: the food was excellent, and Matt (plus the wine-service staff member) made us feel truly taken care of. If the service consistency improves with the other server, this place would be an easy 5/5 every time.

This place is amazing! And I’m very lucky that I live 3min away. The place looks great, service was outstanding, food was OH MY GOD! I ordered the steak and my wife ordered the pork chops . Stuffed mushrooms appetizer, got some wine for myself and wife and desserts. I was so satisfied with the amount of food but I’m telling you no leftovers. steak sauce will never be needed at this restaurant. I will definitely come back.

Tonight was my first visit to this location (Thursday night), I had been to their previous location in Woodbridge. I was happy to finally check out their new location.
I was not greeted immediately so I went to the bathroom. When I came back out , I was greeted and my friends had arrived thankfully.
We were seated, bread and water were given as we reviewed the menu. Since my friends and I were catching up we hadn’t noticed we had waited 30 mins for our waitress Jessenia to finally take our order. The only reason why she came over was because my friend had waved someone down to come to our table.
The bartender came over with our sangria pitcher, spilled a couple of drops on my shoe which didn’t bother me as much as the wait and lack of attention from our waitress Jessenia.
As for the food, it was well prepared and brought out by another waiter named Delfino. He was absolutely kind to serve us since our original waitress was chatting with another table in plain sight . She never came over to check if the food was good or if we needed something else. Completely ignored.
Needless to say, dessert was left to be desired. We asked for the check and even that took long considering we paid cash. A discount was applied for the shoe incident which Jessenia had mentioned. We were grateful to Delfino, he is the reason why we stayed.

Heard this place was originally in Woodbridge for many years and the owner opened here in Carteret. My husband and I were disappointed at all. The food was absolutely delicious and our server Karina was right on top of everything and extremely sweet. We will definitely be back and I hope this restaurant does just as good if not better than its original spot. We will definitely be back

myself, my husband and two other couples went for dinner it was absolutely delicious from the salad to the entrée waitress. Karina was exceptional. I would definitely go back very very impressed. I said make reservations we walked in at 6:30 and we sat right down. It was wonderful would highly recommend it.

I have been here four times. Something different everytime. Arugula salads are fantastic. Pork parmagino was wonderful. Marinara sauce is like none other I have had. If you don’t eat here your missing out on some good food. I have eaten in and also take out.
