We visited this restaurant tonight for the first time and it absolutely exceeded every expectation. The service was amazing from start to finish: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.

I ordered the mahi, and it was cooked perfectly—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. My husband had the braised short ribs, which were tender, rich, and absolutely delicious. We finished with dessert, which was incredible, and the pressed Kauai coffee was the perfect way to end the meal.

Everything—from the food to the atmosphere to the service (Thank you Jim) —was exceptional. We will definitely be coming back!

The food was amazing. The service was outstanding; I need to start taking names at these great locations. The atmosphere was relaxing. There was a bar on one side with sports playing on large TVs. On the other side was more of a nice sit-down restaurant. Oh yeah, the food was amazing, and did I mention the food was amazing? The drinks were also amazing. I love this place. Overall, 10 out of 10. I will be back for more!

My family and I have dined at Rustica several times now and we’re always so pleased. The food is always delicious, the service impeccable, and the overall ambience perfect. Every time we have family visit us, we always bring them to Rustica and the consensus is the same—the food is superb. We also recently met the chef, John, and he was as delightful as his food. We feel very blessed to live within walking distance to this top notch restaurant!

Staff was excellent. Chose to eat at the bar. Bartender was great. Drinks were solid throughout the night. Food was amazing. Lumpia, beet salad, romaine salad, grilled octopus and monkfish were all top shelf. Southern chocolate cake was delicious and I am not a cake guy. Highly recommend! Will definitely be back.

My husband and I frequent Rustica I’d say twice a month. Every time we return, the staff is so friendly and appreciative and we now have favorites and enjoy the new menu options always in rotation. The tuna steak here is the best we’ve ever had! Food is always fresh, delicious and inventive. I really should have been reviewing this restaurant from Day 1 when we started eating here. The bartender is next-level with specialty drinks and recommendations for wines. It’s very impressive. We decided to make reservations here for Thanksgiving and per usual it was spectacular. Thank you to the chef and staff who go beyond to make our food and experience so memorable each time. Pictured here are the crab beignets – soo good! And Thanksgiving meal special.

Excellent food! Went for my wife’s bday out of recommendation, and we were so pleased! We started with the nann and ribs, the nann was so fluffy and delicious, with 3 different sauces. The ribs were the best I’ve ever had- the flavor and the meat falling off the bone. I got the scallop risotto which was excellent, and full of flavor- and my wife got the strip, which was cooked to perfection, and had a delicious potato gratin and sauce with it. Finished with the cheesecake and Nutella crème brule- everything was fantastic and reasonably priced!

I cannot rave more about this spot! This place is truly special. Flavors you will not find anywhere else in Jacksonville. My go to is the Lychee Sangria firstly. An absolute must is Poached Scallop Ravioli with truffle butter, mmmm. Too many favorites! The risotto, gnocchi, always the tuna they order it fresh from Japan and Hawaii! The Rustica Nigiri, so very fresh! I would swear on my granny’s life about this little gem.

We absolutely love this restaurant and last night was the best yet (and every time has been great). The food is eclectic but focused and clearly housemade with passion, drive and fresh ingredients. The Lumpia were incredible and very flavorful. Ahi Tina Tartare Wes insanely fresh and tasty. The Short Rib was so tender the huge bone just fell right out. I can go on but this is a place that is clearly meant for folks who appreciate great food with little pretension. Thank you for a great experience.

Came for the first time for an impromptu day after Christmas meal and enjoyed it very much. The lilikoi and lychee martinis were large and tasty, the nigiri was fresh, and the malfadine pasta, monkfish, and lamb (not pictured) were flavorful and visually appealing. Excited we have this dining option close to home in the St Johns area. Looking forward to returning!

We booked a happy hour reservation between 4–5pm at Rustica, which honestly feels like the sweet spot if you want to dodge some of the St. John’s County traffic and sneak in a couple drinks or apps before dinner. I actually loved walking in at that time — calm, cozy, and before the usual Friday/Saturday dinner rush hits.

The husband and wife owners are truly a power duo. They’re everywhere at once — welcoming guests, running food, and handling back-of-house like it’s nothing. Super friendly, super present. I labeled every photo and video I added to Yelp and Google so you can see exactly what we tried.

Appetizers:
The ahi tuna is non-negotiable. I got lucky and sat in a booth near the kitchen, so not only did I order it again on my second visit, but I watched plate after plate of it head out to other tables. I first tried it while filming a collab reel for Rustica & YelpJax in summer 2024 and have literally thought about it since. Still just as scrumptious as I remembered.

The scallop ravioli is another heavy hitter. And the happy hour margaritas? Way too easy to drink — tart in the best way.
My lumpia appetizer came out piping hot and fresh, which is exactly how it should be. Loved it. We also tried the pork belly buns which were my boyfriend’s favorite, and the onion rings which had a fun spin to them with an Indian inspired dipping sauce.

Entrées:
I went with the happy hour steak, and my boyfriend ordered the beef short ribs. Just a heads-up: the portion on the short ribs is no joke. Super hearty. Same with the pork belly buns – loaded with juicy meat inside.

Dessert:
We wrapped up with the pear sorbet, which was paired with a chocolate brownie-style dessert and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The sorbet had this unexpected black-licorice note that surprised both of us in a fun way. The creativity in these dishes is honestly what keeps Rustica interesting and so fun.

Overall:
Service, atmosphere, drinks, food — all worth the drive from Jacksonville to St. John’s and back any day. If it’s your first visit, your server will probably share some fun backstory about the chef/owners. I loved learning how Rustica came to be and everything the husband and wife team has accomplished over the years. They’re incredibly humble, and it shows.
