I placed an order through the app (A3O1E828 on Jan 16, 2026 for pickup at 4:30 PM) and had never ordered from this location before (Union Square). My wife got out of the car to pick it up for me, and it was already about 5 minutes AFTER the app said the order was ready.
When she told them the name on the order, the employee (a skinny young Black man, around 26 years old) simply said to her, “Can’t you see we’re crowded here? Wait.” in the rudest way possible, while making an ass face. He finished helping the only customer who was in line and then walked into a back area that wasn’t visible.
My wife waited over 8 minutes until another employee came out and helped a customer who had just arrived. He didn’t say anything to her, finished making the new customer’s sandwich, didn’t even ask what she had been waiting for, and then started playing with some coins that were sitting on the counter.
My wife lost her patience and called him over. He said, “Oh, sure, sure,” and finally started making our food. It took more than 20 minutes from the moment she entered the store until the order was handed to her even though the order had been placed 25 minutes before we arrived.
To make things worse, we noticed in the car that the chips were not included and not even acknowledged (it was a Meal: Club + Lays + Soda). But my wife was so uncomfortable with the situation that she didn’t want to go back inside to complain, we preferred to lose the money for that item rather than deal with more stress.
When we got home, another surprise: the sandwich was completely wrong. The meat, the salad, and every add-on I paid for were incorrect. There wasn’t even lettuce or tomato. No onions that I asked for, no olives, no parmesan, not even the sauces I added. It was a complete disaster.
My recommendation is to stay far away from this Subway location. Drive a little further and go to another one.
Regardless, I told her I’d opt for the Flatbread after waiting around. She started making my sandwiches and I’ve never seen someone move so inconveniently. I work in Fast food as well so I myself have come up with a system to be efficient. She made 1 sub at a time and decided she wanted to train a new employee at the same time she’s already slowly making my order. By this time it’s 8:45am my order was supposed to ready at 8:30am, I’m getting frustrated. She proceeded to dress my subs with toppings and she infuriated me! I asked for a few more olives this lady literally grabs a fist full of olives and puts them on my sub! The new employee even looked like DANG THATS A LOT OF OLIVES! And when I got home to eat She added Wayyyyyy too much salt to both my subs. I genuinely cried because I had just gotten off work and just wanted a sub and to go home.
I fear I stressed her out asking for a 12in cheesesteak sandwich on flatbread with double meat, but she stuck with me and all of my “extra ____, extra ____, extra ____” requests, even as I could see some concern growing as we loaded up this skinny slice of bread, and I’m sure she was wondering who was gonna be eating it, considering she was only a bit smaller than me.
She did get a little creative with closing it, which I actually really appreciated. Don’t get me wrong, I know how to eat tacos so folding it in half isn’t a /problem/ per se, BUT! Rolling it was MUCH more effective at keeping everything INSIDE the sandwich and not smeared all over the parchment paper.
I wish I had caught her name, but I was so excited for my sandwich I ate half of it in my car right outside before I actually drove to work that day, eating the rest before my shift.
Everything tasted fresh, and unlike some subway employees she didn’t seem at all judgmental about the monstrosity I was ordering, simply concerned about the logistics and perhaps even a little impressed, as this is clearly my “usual.”
Great experience, amazing service, definitely gonna try and swing by more often whenever my schedule allows
I will be calling in morning to request recompensation on the full amount to be return in cash for the menu items I purchased. But I feel I rather have my money returned to me for these sandwiches. And I hope management rectifies this situation. Thank You God Bless.
