I recently tried multiple dishes from this restaurant, ordered pickup. The food was impressive, wholesome in the best possible sense / taste, heartwarming. The chicken dum biryani (chicken pieces are under the rice, generous amount) was the highlight with soft fragrant rice, Well SEASONED chicken properly marinated, and I repeat well spiced but not overly spicy. The goat rogan josh was deeply spiced and comforting, with soft, well marinated meat, the curry from it tasted amazing with roti / naan. It’s not your generic store bought naan, it tasted handmade and kinda made me emotional tbh. The goat vhuna offered a thicker, more intense but less curry that paired perfectly with white rice. Which I mixed with the The chole curry. SO GOOD!!! MashAllah

I noticed Ritaj as I drove down Summit Ave recently. Today I stopped in for the first time. I enjoyed delicious pav bhaji and a chai. I was just in Pune and Mumbai, and the pav bhaji at Ritaj is as good as the dish in Pune. The chai was also delicious. The service was friendly and prompt, and the ambience was welcoming. I will definitely return to this wonderful new Indian spot in the neighborhood. Check it out!

I tried Ritaj Restaurant in Jersey City and honestly, the food was really good! The biryani was flavorful and fresh, and the curries had that perfect homemade taste. Everything came hot and well-packed. The staff were nice and welcoming too. Definitely a great spot if you’re craving good Indian food around the area.

I’m skeptical these 5 star reviews are real. They’re all recent and there are multiple “restaurants” at the same address. Also the food is ok, but not great. And the entrees don’t come with rice. I’ve never seen an Indian restaurant not include rice with entrees. And the entrees are all $20+…. While I was picking up my food, someone was behind the counter, on a computer, creating a menu for a vegan restaurant. I think this might be just be one of those ghost kitchens where dozens of “restaurants” are all based. Avoid this place, it’s basically just a scam.

Really good chicken curry, cheese naan and baklava. I came in late evening and manager/owner? was extremely polite and happy to make any of the dishes or pizza. I will definitely be back for more

I usually never leave reviews but I was so annoyed after this experience that I will absolutely never go back.
Let’s start from the fact that after a 12-hour shift at work all I wanted to do was to eat some pizza at home. It’s Christmas Day and I cannot celebrate it with my family, so since I’ve been treating people amazingly today (I am a waitress), I just wanted to be treated a little bit nice as well, but that is definitely NOT what happened.
I got to the place and ordered a 14” PEPPERONI pizza, I pay and, right after I tap my card, the lady that makes the pizza said “can you actually BUY an 18” because I don’t have the 14” dough ball.” The gentleman that was assisting me told her that I had already paid, but her, very pressuring and unprofessional, asked me if I had $3 to pay the difference, so I said I had no cash and she said “so can you pay with your card?” (I remind you that it was NOT MY fault that SHE DIDNT have the dough), but not to create any problems I said that I could have run my card again or I could have gotten a refund, but the gentleman refused to make me pay the extra $3 so I left him a $3 tip.
The time passes and the lady calls me to the oven counter, shows me the pizza and asks me if it’s too burnt, I said no, but I noticed something.. there was NO PEPPERONI on my pizza, i didn’t say anything, because I was already pissed enough, and as a response to the “no it’s not burnt” she said “ohh you’re lucky that you like it like that!”. To be honest I don’t even want to know what she meant by that, but definitely it’s not something that you tell a customer. I took my pizza and left. The pizza was ok, definitely not worth the price: the mozzarella didn’t taste like anything, the flour that they use has too much semolina taste, and the tomato tasted like water.
In the overall an absolutely horrible experience and things like this sometimes make me wish I was more demanding and annoying with the workers that don’t treat their customers right.
