My friends and I were here for a girl’s weekend at the lake. GeJo’s was recommended by two of the girls who have homes there and after seeing some pictures of the outdoor seating I figured it’d be a nice, unique experience. The food reviews were decent so we made a 5pm reservation on a Saturday.

We were seated upon arrival. Outside, as requested. It took quite some time for a server to address us. That’s to be expected on a busy Saturday in the summer. Not a big deal. However, there were a number of issues as the evening went on. One of the girls ordered the hot oil, expecting it to come with bread. Though, she didn’t confirm with the server. For $5, all you got was a 1.5oz plastic ramekin of oil (photo with hand as a reference). The oil was advertised as having a house blend of spices but it just looked like oil. We didn’t have any bread to dip in it so we just didn’t use it. By the time the server came back around and we could’ve ordered some bread the entrées were making their way out so they took it off our bill. Two of the girls shared a pizza and the rest of us got pasta. I was considering the “Forget the Sauce, Forget the Cheese” as long as it came with pasta. The server assured me that it did so I ordered it. I can confirm that it does not, in fact, come with pasta. The server was very apologetic and brought me a huge side of spaghetti to remedy the mistake. The dish was good, albeit a bit bizarre with the amount of sweetness. The description says a “touch of honey” but it seemed to be doused in it. I would have asked for a quarter the amount of hot honey if I had known. Even so, the dish was unsatisfying (in my opinion) without the pasta. Several other things transpired that made dinner a little less smooth. One person’s salad was forgotten so she didn’t get to eat that until we were all done with our entrées. Good thing we didn’t wait because it took a long time. My pasta that the server added on late came out before my friend’s salad. Drinks were also not filled, and it took an inordinate amount of time to get checks, and to get cards back. The girls who ordered the pizza graciously shared. I will say that the pizza is good–perfect crust, toppings went well together, cheese was perfectly melted and not burnt, and the seasonings were on-point. It’s such a shame that nothing else was this good. The prices also did not reflect the quality of service, the environment, or the food at all. We met the owner who was helping bus tables. He seems like someone who genuinely cares about his staff and I absolutely love that! I just think they all need more training. As someone who served and bartended for about a decade before getting into my career I hesitate to leave these types of reviews. Hence, why I’m writing this review so late. But, there is no email address listed on the website for me to send a private note to management. This place seems to be a staple at the lake. The problem is training and consistency. I honestly hope they do well.

I enjoyed this place. It was our first time here and we got the lite fare sizes for our entrée. They came with a breadstick and a salad each. The outdoor seating was pleasant. My boyfriend doesn’t like salads much but he enjoyed this one with the Italian house dressing. It was pretty good if you like vinaigrettes. The Margaritas were the right amount of sour and not sweet and two of them were about $18 so not bad at all, wouldn’t mind a bit more orange liqueur on mine to go with the sourness, but still good! I got mine on the rocks. Cheese toast was good, but to have a side sauce it was extra(just 50¢). They did have a 3 toast option rather than the 6 and it was little less than $5. The red sauce they use is not too heavily seasoned, and not chunky which I liked. Tasted like a thick tomato soup, but very enjoyable, especially with the cheese toast. The ravioli was pretty good and after everything 2 of those ravioli were enough for me, ended up taking the last one home along with half a breadstick. With covid right now, they did well with the seating outside and from what I saw while I was there they would clean thoroughly. Only some employees wore mask, I state this for those that are curious since some people would like to eat out but are immunocomprimised. We did make a reservation, and glad we did, seemed like they had a steady flow of in an out. Good, friendly servers and will definitely be back for more.

I love this place. We have been here twice. Last time we didn’t have reservations but they were more than willing to accommodate. There are outdoor options for dining and inside one wall is covered with signatures of artists that have performed locally. Ambiance aside the staff is very friendly and the service was great.
The food is very good. We had a salad, side of cheese garlic bread and a pizza. We highly recommend.

Our FAVORITE PIZZA! GeJos has the very best pizza. The pizza is authentic with fresh ingredients and homemade sauce. The owner Gene is so nice and greets everyone at the door as they arrive. We love going to GeJos for a date night! The red lighting indoors is so fun too. The mozzarella sticks, pizza, and carrot cake are the best on this planet!

Tasty pizza with a view. We (2 of us) had the Italian Nachos $10.95, a couple of frozen Strawberry Margaritas $17.90, and the GeJo’s 12” Special for $22.95.

We sat under an awning with a ceiling fan and a great view of the lake. The crust of the pizza was crunchy with a delicate, chewy inside.

We would definitely come back.

Hate to blame the Server but it took about 1 1/2 hours to get our dinner.
Out of several items….NO LASAGNA?
What’s the deal on that. way over priced. But has a great location for outside dining. No rush for me to come back.

Good food, quick service. A little loud next to the street, but the patio is nice and shaded for the most part. Ordered the mile high pizza, it was really good. Not crazy different, but different than most in North Iowa.

Overhyped and not worth it! Dominos or gas station pizza would have been a far better choice. The service is extremely delayed, inefficient, and we tipped just out of courtesy although not deserved. The waitress was nice but did not check in on us and was not available throughout our meal there. We kept troubling a poor man who was the manager/owner for condiments or sauce. It took 50 mins for pizza to come. The dough was crappy and undercooked while the bottom of the pizza was burnt. The natomelli pizza was salty and not appetizing. The garlic bread tasted worse than store bought frozen Texas toast. Definitely will not be coming back again!
