If you’re looking for a lively spot to hang out with friends, Fats Fairfax is the place to be! The atmosphere is always buzzing, with great music and a fun crowd, especially on Thursday nights. If you’re into karaoke, this is your stage, whether you’re a pro or just there for the laughs, it’s a blast!

One of the best parts? $2 drinks from 8-9 PM every Thursday, seriously, you can’t beat that deal! It’s perfect for college students looking to kick off the weekend early (just make sure you’re 21+!). The bartenders are super friendly, and the vibe is always chill but energetic enough to keep the night going.

Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area and ready for some fun!

Why Not
This place was terrible, I was there a couple days ago with some friends and the place was so dirty the bathrooms look like they are never cleaned and the floor and table feel sticky. just being in there was awful, but we overlooked how dirty it was and still decided to go in and it just got even worse. the bartender was even worse than the cleanliness of the place she was rude and dismisive honestly this was one of the worse bars ive ever been too. The atmosphere of the place, the service were all so bad, the drinks were just fine cant really mess up a bottled beer, wouldn’t be suprised if this place figures out how.

I used to come here for the exceptional Karaoke DJ. Never had to wait that long. I stopped coming here because different DJ. The software he uses sucks. Sorry but sad truth. It’s low with my higher voice. I sounded terrible. I was the first one who put my request in and sang 10th in line. My drink and service was good. That’s the only reason why I didn’t just leave when I saw the new DJ. I will never return!

This is a pretty sad karaoke dive bar. I’ve been there three times, going the extra mile (literally) for a friend in a bad spot. Service is awful. The bartenders are some of the most miserable people I’ve encountered. The crowd is mostly young GMU kids, I think. Just a random place that might be fun the first time around only if you’re drunk enough.

It can be very frustrating trying to get food here because they are completely inconsistent about when the kitchen shuts down. One week I got here at just after 10:00 and they told me they stop serving at 10:00, so the next week I got there before 9:30 and they told me that they had stopped at 9:00. Both of these visits were on Saturday nights, so I’m not sure what the deal is. Either the first staff member had it wrong or it just changes from night to night, but either way that shouldn’t happen, it should be consistent. The bouncer outside said that it depends on when the cook stops wanting to serve food.

For a place that advertises a unique New Orleans menu it seems like a really bad business decision to not make it so your customers can predict when they can actually get your New Orleans food. Like many others here report, I was offered “Just wings and fries” – with only one choice for wing sauce flavor! It also might be good to know that reviews for this place on other sites are worse than their reviews here. Many of those reviews mention negative experiences with staff. It seems the owner may not be very present anymore to oversee things like they used to.

Costumers need predictability. On a similar note related to unpredictability, after my first visit I went to the bathroom before coming right back to the bar to pay my check. When I got back they informed me that they had already closed my tab. I had a fine experience the first time and was going to tip well anyway, but that just rubbed me the wrong way. It was not close to closing time or anything like that. I guess they really wanted to guarantee that 20% (25%?) automatic tip…

At least the atmosphere was cool. Could be a little cleaner, but that’s easy to overlook with all of the fun decorations they have and their patio area.

Absolute horrendous bar. It is completely disgusting, unsanitary, and has some pretty lackluster live music… There’s not even a door in one of the bathroom stalls. I was shocked to find that they only had wings and fries despite showing a full menu on the website. Bartenders are incompetent and rude. Will not be back. Wouldn’t recommend. Don’t waste your time.

Very slow poor bar service. The place was mostly empty there were plenty of people working there behind the bar but we sat there forever before anybody acknowledged that we were there and were able to order drinks, absolutely ridiculous.

Ordered a double and I can tell you I was served something less than a double, if I ever go there again it probably won’t I’ll bring something with me to measure it.

No coasters or napkins were provided for the drinks so the condensation just puddles water on the bar top. They don’t even have the small bar napkins available.

We were finished with our drinks and waited and waited I finally had to stand up and wave somebody down behind the bar to get the check so we could leave, horrible service.

Open mic was a shit experience. I understand a bar being a local dive but there’s a difference between this and a place being filthy and unsanitary… at least the decor was cool. Despite advertising a full cajun menu, the only items that were available were wings and fries; why bother having a menu posted at all as of that point?

At some point in the night, 2 staff members gave a band shit because apparently their singer was underage. They went as far as to declare “this isn’t some kiddy bar” even though earlier at the event there were at least a few performers who were minors and there was at least one kid in the bar with a parent. Allegedly, this band had gone as far as to call ahead of time where someone had confirmed they were okay to perform so long as the singer didn’t go up to the bar and ask for alcohol. They could have easily checked the books, see who was staffing that night, and sent a text to confirm but couldn’t be bothered even with the venue being half empty. I could understand the lack of problem solving in this situation if the bar was packed but it wasn’t… These goofs are condescending hypocrites who lack any sense of professionalism and are bordering on incompetent!

Is it so hard to mark minors with a sharpie or scan IDs? It’s a college bar, I’m willing to bet fakes get through there all the time. Apparently, they don’t have the budget to spend 2 dollars at a CVS for a marker nonetheless clean up the filth on the floors and tables of their bar.

I’d give a 0 if I could…

I went to there open mic and it was pretty chill experience. I liked the open mic because it had amps and mic stands so I could preform my music really loud. I had someone also hop up and do some drums with me. I have been a couple of time and they got the same set up every time. I would go to the open mic and preform you songs that you write. I try and write a song every day and doing open mic and Fats is awesome.
