My wife and I came here for a mutual birthday dinner. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable about our wine and pairing recommendations. Our steak was well seasoned and prepared to our order. The unexpected add-ons were a wonderful way to experience this restaurant. We left ordering more than we anticipated and were very happy with every choice. The staff was excellent, service was prompt and streamlined with no empty plate staying on the table for more than a couple of minutes. Will be looking for this experience here again in the future.

This is a tough but honest review. My disappointment was well earned as is my praise. The confusion on fine dining is evident. The front and back of the house both seem like they try but fall short. I will talk about the good first. Beautiful restaurant!! The foie gras was decadent. Corn bisque was great, but served in a massive bowl leading to a luke warm delivery. The bone marrow was perfect except for the plating. They actually served it on a plate, that was propped up with a house cloth napkin . It was also not served with an oyster spoon. When asked, they were surprised as they have never heard of that?
They do have an ok selection of spirits, too bad the servers and bartender know nothing about them. I asked simple questions that were answered by stumped faces. Know your product…
Now for the brutal honesty. The amuse bouche was absolutely disgusting. What a horrible way to start our meal. It was a mess of honeydew and onion on a dried piece of something I could not call bread. They even left that plate, on the table, the entire dinner. I ordered the dinner side salad with blue cheese. It was served with a blue cheese vinaigrette, without asking. It was not good.
We both ordered the incredible 45 day, dry aged, NY strip. Flavor was amazing, nutty hints, perfectly cooked. Then you cut into the disgusting tendon, that was not removed. I’m guessing they do not cut their steaks in house. It actually ruined the rest of the steak for me.
Our server could see that I wasn’t impressed for my lack of eating, yet said nothing. The table busser was lack luster and clueless, however very kind. When I went to pay, our waiter stood there, dumbfounded waiting for the hostess to run my card. So weird.
This should have been a 5 star experience. However, until they figure out fine dining, please save your money and eat anywhere else.
This was the worst money I’ve ever spent on a meal, that is a big statement as I travel and eat food extensively.

This is the second time dining at the Monarch Chophouse and I was even more blown away this time. The food is perfection but the service is what makes it my favorite place to dine. I noted my husband’s birthday when making the reservation and we had fresh rose petals on our table and a complimentary glass of champagne to start the experience. Chris was our server and he made the perfect wine suggestion and made sure everything was perfect from beginning to end. I ordered the Steak Diane again and it was amazing. I love seeing it prepared tableside. We now plan on making the drive up the hill just for the dining experience. Out of every review I’ve done this would be my strongest recommendation! Must dine here!

Loved the atmosphere and the service was also great. The beef carpaccio was fantastic! Things fell apart after that. The Caesar salad was very bitter, tasted like radishes. Truly strange and have not this issue with a salad before. They brought a second salad , the house salad, and again, very bitter, hardly any dressing. At this point I think the waiter just thought I was a complaining Karen but it was not worth eating, it was terrible. then came out the Fillet Rossini and my was not edible as it was overly salted. My fiancé ordered the same thing and his was fine. When they brought out our entrees the woman started to hand him the first fillet and then paused and pulled it back and then handed it to me. We found this to be very odd especially when the one they handed me turned out to be not edible due to the salt. Very strange and I ended up not eating it. They did credit both the salad and the fillet but we would not eat here again after this strange experience. It’s a shame because it truly is a beautiful setting. The did great with the interior design.

I usually reserve a 5 star rating for only the very best. This is very good, probably not quite a 5, but considering it’s the only quality dining we’ve found anywhere in Blackhawk, it’s getting a 5 star. I can only speak to the “Chef’s special” since 3 of us all got the same thing. Great food for a good value! All meals start with a generous portion of bread variety and whipped butter. The salad with house was super, the vinaigrette was great! We all got the 8oz fillet, cooked perfectly and very tender. We ordered extra sides of mac and cheese and au gratin potatoes. Both sides were large enough to share for 3 and very good. Finished with the fruit sorbet, also very good. All included for $65/person, can’t beat it. Service was also fantastic, made sure our water was never empty, checked back multiple times to verify we were satisfied. To top it off everybody gets a mini banana bread to go at the end. Just a fantastic experience. Our new go-to in Blackhawk.

We had the pleasure of celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this weekend, every moment was exemplary from the initial greeting until the final plate was cleared. The service was truly a fine dining experience. Our server Carrie made excellent suggestions on both cocktails and entrees. Her attention to detail was outstanding and her service timing impeccable never rushed. We highly recommend taking the time to DINE here. Definitely money well spent!

Went to Monarch Chophouse for my Birthday Dinner with my girlfriend during our stay at Monarch Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk. It was the best time I ever had!!! They put rose petals on our table. We ordered Full Monty Drinks, My girl got the Smoked Salmon, I got the 8oz Filet Mignon and we shared Grilled Brussels Sprouts. Was treated with Amuse Bouche. Our server Sean B, and Mohammed & Uriah were awesome!!! If you haven’t been, you need to go check it out.

We ate at this place 2 years ago and it was a lot better then. We went last night and for a fairly expensive steakhouse the food was pretty terrible. The carrot soup had a great flavor but was served lukewarm warm. The beets / goat cheese wasn’t really a salad but just beets scattered on a plate with the cheese – the beets were not ripe / were very hard. My husband and I shared a bone in ribeye. It had zero flavor and was kind of just gross. The brussel sprouts were decent but were slathered in oil and a sauce on top that was just too much. We also had the truffle scalloped potatoes – flavor was good but potatoes were undercooked.

It’s been months since I’ve eaten here, but I still think about it almost every other day. Seriously good food. My wife and I came for our 1st anniversary and the experience was phenomenal. I love my steak blue rare and they cooked it perfectly for me. The béarnaise is decadent; the steaks are juicy; the there is an ample amount of good bread given to start; and–best of all–their crab legs are so succulent. Our server was fantastic as well–unfortunately I can’t remember her name.
The only negative commentary I have (if you’d even consider it ‘negative’) is that the presentation of their smoked old fashioned was a bit tacky. Bringing it out in a gilded cage filled with rosemary/thyme smoke is a bit over the top, and not in a cute way. As for the drink itself, it was fantastic! Like I said, the theatrics are just a bit cheesy. Your bartenders are great! Let the drink speak for itself.

What an experience! The food was amazing and really appreciated the gluten free options. The steaks we got were perfect and that bison carpaccio was divine. We were celebrating our anniversary and they went above and beyond with the rose petals and dessert! Highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion!
