I ordered to go and the portions were really small for appetizers and entrees were not what the picture looked. For $88 dollars I would expect more quality. I had the carbonara and the bacon was not cooked all the way and the sauce was lacking. The crab cakes were very small and burnt. This is the only “Italian” spot and it is lacking quality for an expensive atmosphere. 20 minutes for a fast rushed fine dine restaurant

My wife and I found a coupon for a meal for two for $30 and it was a fantastic surprise. The deal consisted of 1 shared appetizer, salad, 2 entrees and a shared desert. It was delicious! I had the Fettuccini Alfredo and my wife had the Veal Parmesan. Both entrees had plenty of food that we had to take home. Our wait staff was super friendly and we had a nice laugh and certainly the price was very fair. Even with a bottle of wine and tip, our bill was under $60. We’ll be back!

Absolutely delicious! The homemade house Italian dressing is the best I’ve ever had, and the fresh made in house bread was fantastic. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and my husband ham the chicken parm. Both were incredible! Finding fresh, truly authentic (and *almost* as delicious as my Italian grandmother makes) Italian cuisine is hard to come by but definitely can be found here! The waitstaff were incredibly efficient and friendly. We would definitely love to regular this spot if it wasn’t 400 miles from home. Thanks for a great experience!

We had an excellent evening at Scarpetta’s, both service, food, and ambiance. The Italian gem of a restaurant is located in historic downtown Fremont. The main dining area is filled with colorful large scale artwork, ambient lighting, and there are beautiful thick marble-topped tables, and some booths are in an elegant cozy crescent shape. Our party of 5 included a gentleman in a wheelchair, and the hostess was very kind to configure the seating to best fit his wheelchair, and allow everyone to have ample room at the table. The hostess, Elisa and our waitress Alora were the perfect service personnel, very kind, warm and professional.

The food was an Italian delight, and cooked to perfection. Upon being seated we were promptly brought waters with lemon and rustic bread with herbed olive oil. The French onion soup was a knockout in flavor, onions and overall quality. The mozerella cheese was flame-seared just prior to serving.. Among the best FO soup II have had. The dinner salad was a generous serving; crispy and fresh with tomatoes, onions, and olives. Three guests ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, and they all agreed the sauce was outstanding and the portions came in plentiful deep- dish rimmed bowls. Two guests ordered chicken scallopini and it was very good and hot with linguine and red onions and a nice sauce. While between the five of us, we ordered repeats of the same meals, the entree and appetizer menu had an impressive variety of Italian dishes from which to make our choices.

Scarpetta’s is well worth the drive from nearly anywhere in Northwest Ohio, and rivals the best there, and even in Chicago! Get there before 6 and enjoy a vary nice happy hour for drinks and appetizers.

This was our third time here, and each visit exceeded our expectations and memory. We will return! You will not be sorry after enjoying an authentic Italian meal at beautiful Scarpetta’s restaurant. Our after-meal coffees were superb as well.

UPDATE: One year later.

Many things have been fixed, some remain

Improvement:
Wine list now reads correctly.
Salt and pepper shakers on tables
Pasta was well drained
Salad was beautiful and very good

Still lacking:
SALT – nothing had enough salt, not the pasta, not the sauce, not the shortrib

The oil served with the bread was still a pomace or blend oil, definitely not EVOO
No pizzeria items

The menu calls out fresh pasta several times. Upon asking the server, all their pasta is dry.

The stuffed banana peppers were just…wrong. Normally, these are filled with cheese, Italian sausage and baked until the peppers are cooked and served on a bed of sauce. These were served barely warmed, filled with cream cheese with various ground meat in them, with the appearance of cat vomit.

In summary, it is better and worth the trip but still turning in “C+” work when it has the potential for “A+”

Original Review:
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has great potential, but it seems to drop the ball on the one yard line.

I was there during happy hour. I ordered the asparagus salad small plate. The asparagus had not been trimmed and was inedible at the base. The dressing was tasteless. Proper trimming and a sprinkle of sea salt, or better yet, a rosemary infused salt would have made the difference. For the record, there was no salt or pepper at the table, nor was it offered.

The soups on offer that day were French onion, cream of tomato, or chili – not exactly Italian options; I opted for the French onion.

The French onion was the high point of the meal. The base was beefy with a good onion flavor. The onions were caramalized but not broken down completely. The traditional croutons were not overpowering, and the provolone cheese made a nice topper. It was well melted but had obviously been torched, making the cheese more black than browned.

The bread had the potential to be great! Connected to the restaurant is a take out only pizzeria. The bread was quite sweet and lacked flavor. The herbed olive oil was either a blend or pomace oil as it, too, had no flavor. A few grinds of salt would go a long way again.

For my main, I ordered what was billed on the menu as fresh spaghetti, and I added a link of sausage. The spaghetti was thin spaghetti but was certainly dried pasta. The sauce tasted of nearly nothing, just a slight hint of flavor from the fresh basil garnish found its way through the tasteless tomato sauce. The pasta had not been adequately drained and made a wet mess in the bowl. The sausage link was cut in two pieces and boiled. It had not been browned at all and was a slimy cylinder in the dish.

I ordered a glass of house wine. However, the menu was misprinted, and the wines annotated as house wines by stars weren’t correct. I asked for a house wine list, and the server told me to just ask her if it was.

As noted before in the room, next door is a takeout only pizzaria and Italian food shop; I was shocked to see not a single pizza, flatbread, or other item on the restaurant menu.

I ate almost nothing as it wasn’t worth wasting the calories.

I might try the pizzeria one day, but I’ll have to do it on a day when I plan to eat my dinner in the car.

Unfortunately, the lobster risotto was more like Spanish rice with fish… I could taste the fish… and my husband doesn’t do spicy and it was too spicy for him to eat. We did tell the server and he got 4.50 off a $23 entrée he didn’t eat. The veal picata was breaded, which was unusual as it is usually not, so veal lost a bit of flavor. We had two bottles of wine, a red and white. The chianti had a bit of a bite. The white was ok. All in all, it was ok, but since this was a third time trying this restaurant , without much luck, I don’t know if we’ll go back.

First time here. There aren’t many Italian restaurants in the area, glad this is so close and locally owned. The food and mixed drinks tasted wonderful and were reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back.
