My husband and I went to DeLand Eatery for dinner along with his cousin and his wife on News Year’s Day after going skydiving earlier that day. This eatery is inside of the historic DeLand Hotel in Deland Florida. I chose the soup of the day which was their version of chili and it comes with sweet cornbread. I also got smoked chicken wings (4)with ranch dry rub. Both were good but different than my chili. My husband chose the grilled salmon with snap peas and rice. His cousin and his wife shared the blue lake chicken plate. It is chicken breast with bacon, cheese, honey mustard and a side of macaroni and cheese. For my choice of a cocktail I got the peacock. It was a super tasty drink. This little gem is super good for a variety of food and drinks. Definitely worth a try. The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was very cozy.

Upon arriving, we were not greeted by the young blonde female employee, even though she passed by us twice—there wasn’t even an “I’ll be with you shortly.” It made us wonder if we would have been treated differently had we been white. Eventually, a male employee acknowledged us and seated us wherever he chose, without asking for our seating preference. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was good; however, the portions were small for the price. If you plan on ordering orange or pineapple juice, you might as well get a mimosa since it costs the same. I’m usually a great tipper, but the level of service influenced me to tip otherwise. We wish the business well, but we will not be returning. Also, if you pay in cash, be sure to check that you receive all of your change. It may have only been a few cents, but honesty still matters.

We went to DeLand Eatery for lunch on a Friday, and it was such a great experience. The restaurant feels cozy and welcoming, making it an easy place to relax and enjoy a meal.
My friend ordered the smash burger with two patties, sauce, caramelized onions, pickles, lettuce, American cheese, and a Martin potato roll. I am not usually a hamburger person, but this was honestly one of the best burgers I have ever had. I ended up eating half of hers because it was that good.
I ordered the Everything Rice Bowl with roasted oyster mushrooms, vegetables, egg, and added shrimp. It was flavorful and very satisfying, and we enjoyed sharing both dishes.
The restaurant is located inside the DeLand Hotel, which looks beautiful with a classic, elegant style. Even as a local, it made me curious to stay there. The cocktail bar inside the hotel also looks amazing, and I would love to try it next time.

Home Sweet Deland Hotel! This cozy Thowback antique place is defenitely recommended. The breakfast,historic cozy,setting and friendly folks will make you feel like you’ve been invited to the family’s country side home. Eggs,sausage,bacon and toast is the best breakfast I’ve ever had. This splendid and delicious food hit the spot so good both time that I Had an uphoria high twice. Made me sleep good too! AWESOME WORK DELAND HOTEL

We had the best greeters when we pulled into the parking lot, a flock of chickens, but don’t expect them to valet.
As we entered we were greeted with a warm welcome which let us know we were in for a good experience.
The complimentary pickles were a yummy surprise. We had the Dreambird and Steak Sandwiches which were excellent choices.
Looking forward to dining on their outdoor patio.

My first visit to The DeLand Eatery was unfortunately a big letdown overall, though not without one bright spot.
My friend and I both ordered the Huevos Rancheros with shrimp, and the dish missed the mark badly. It was served on two very hard tostadas, which I had to struggle to break apart just to attempt eating it. The plate essentially consisted of the tostadas, two eggs, a small amount of salsa, and 4 shrimp. The shrimp had a noticeably fishy smell, and after a couple of bites, I simply couldn’t continue. My friend added avocado to hers, which arrived brown and unappetizing. Neither of us enjoyed the dish or wanted to finish it.
To their credit, the staff comped half of each meal, though at $17 per plate, it already felt overpriced for what we received.
The saving grace of the experience was the Tommy’s Margaritas. They were excellent and easily the highlight of the meal.
Between the food quality and value, it’ll be a long time before I consider returning. I truly wanted to like this place, but this visit just didn’t deliver.

The food was a true highlight. The Shrimp & Grits were perfectly seasoned and creamy, offering a comforting Southern classic with a gourmet twist. The Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. And the Fried Chicken Breast was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and paired wonderfully with the house-made sides. Every dish reflected the kitchen’s attention to detail and commitment to quality.

What a treat to find Deland Eatery! Nestled on the rear of the famed Deland Hotel, this eatery offered a delightful outdoor patio as well as indoor seating. I ordered the most delicious smash cheeseburger that I have ever had the privilege of eating. Served on a yummy potato bun, each bite was even more delicious than the previous one! My husband ordered a Philly-steak and cheese sandwich served on soft and equally delicious focaccia bread. When we return to Deland, we most definitely will come back to Deland Eatery! Highly recommend!

Stopped in for Lunch as we were on a VERY rare trip into DeLand and figured we’d give it a try having never been here. It was between Lunch and Dinner rush so we had the outdoor seating area almost to ourselves and it was peaceful on a beautiful day. Service was attentive and kind and the food was absolutely worth our stop. Prices were not unreasonable for lunch items so no complaints there.
The only issue we had, wasn’t a big one and we were able to fix it ourselves but others may be less chill about it. We both ordered the Steak Sandwich which was served on a I’m assuming house made ciabatta roll. The steak, cheese, peppers, & horsey sauce were absolutely delicious and the roll had a very nice flavor to it BUT I’m not sure if it’s just that there wasn’t enough filler in the sandwich or if the bread dough was a bit under-proofed but the roll was pretty thick/heavy to the point that as is, you couldn’t really taste anything except for the bread.
We don’t like to complain if it’s something we can easily fix ourselves so we just stripped the more doughy bits out and enjoyed our meals. Regardless, the food was high quality and our Server was great. Would love to return for dinner sometime and will absolutely recommend friends/family.
