Absolute top tier place. Proper village pub; low ceilings, low lighting but high quality food and drinks. The service was nothing short of excellent! Friendly and attentive staff were superb, even with two children in the party always came with solutions not problems.

Can’t recommend it enough. Well worth the visit. Parking is proper village though! Good luck! Loved it!

Lovely traditional pub with a great atmosphere. The Sunday roast was delicious and clearly well prepared. The only reason for giving 4 rather than 5 stars is the price – £28 for a roast dinner feels a little expensive.

Booked a table for 6.45 Saturday night. Was told it was busy and was quite grateful that they fitted us in. Arrived at 6.40. Pub busy. Told them we had a booking. Bar staff looked at us quite blankly and fumbled around for a bit. Eventually stated that we had ‘better get that table before someone grabs it’. Was directed towards a table despite the fact that we were trying to order some drinks. Lady became really insistent that we take the table, so we did. Someone came along and literally threw the cutlery and napkins on the table. No water, no candle like the other dining tables. We ordered and the food was good apart from one member of staff who knew nothing about what various items on the menu were. You’ve only got four main courses. Surely you brief your staff on the menu. The staff were unfriendly and made us feel that they were being put out by us being there. Checked my phone this morning and found attached message. Get your act together as a pub. Really shoddy service and very unwelcoming. Will not return. Locals seem to take precedence over visitors. Also don’t really want a dog sniffing around when I am eating.

Only a 4* as difficult to get to. No parking other than around area & if you don’t want to get in people’s way. Good to walk to though. Staff very friendly, and the food tasted very good. It has a very nice garden behind & is a lovely place, well worth a visit if you are happy to walk or to park a little distance from the pub.

Have walked to this pub many times since moving to Bishops Waltham 2 years ago. Staff are very friendly and have made us feel at home on every visit. Have eaten here a as a couple & with friends and the food is always good, especially Sunday lunch. On our latest visit there was a pop up kitchen and we thoroughly enjoyed our Tapas, which was excellent value, the Banana Brioche pudding was delicious.
It has become our go to local even though it’s a 2 mile walk from home.

We visited for the first time today.

A little hidden country pub tucked away in Upham, the food served was absolutely delicious although it was a bit limited choice wise as there were no veggie options for main courses.

Staff were really friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated lots of doggy cuddles with the resident pets!

The best Sunday roast ever!!! It was like home cooked but better. Yorkshire’s were perfect, roast potatoes were epic and roast beef was incredible. Thank you so much, made my uncles birthday so special.

Outstanding Sunday roast in the most beautiful quaint pub! Can’t recommend it enough. Every bite on the plate was delicious and obviously made with love- from the gorgeous rare organic aged beef to the cauliflower cheese and all the trimmings it was delicious! The pub is in a pretty and peaceful village with a gorgeous beer garden to enjoy the sunshine. Tables are laid out with comfy cushions, and candle lit with a roaring open fire nearby. A must visit! oh and make sure you try the homemade scotch egg- to die for!!! Thank you to the staff and owners for such a warm welcome x

We stopped quite late for lunch but the owners were very happy to make food up for us, including 2 half size fish and chips as we’re not big eaters. My friend was extremely happy to find quality cider for sale, and the beer was pretty darn good too.
