During the Mid Michigan Women’s Expo in Lansing, my husband and I discovered a little gem — Batter Up — and it truly became part of our expo experience.
We stopped in Thursday afternoon for lunch and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The space felt warm and welcoming, the staff incredibly kind, and the food was exactly what we needed before booth setup. I had a delicious vegetarian sandwich and a matcha latte — perfect fuel for a long day ahead.
After setup, we tried to return for dinner but they had closed early — and honestly, I kept thinking about how lovely dinner would feel in that cozy space.
So on Saturday night, I brought one of my students back with me — and this time the restaurant was bustling, nearly every table full. I’ll admit I missed the quiet intimacy of our first visit, but it was wonderful to see them so busy.
Dinner took a while — almost an hour — but it was absolutely worth the wait. She had the salmon with coconut rice and Brussels sprouts, and I enjoyed a beautiful salmon pasta with fresh vegetables. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service stayed gracious and attentive, and to top off the evening they surprised us with dessert on the house — a lemon cake with fresh fruit and whipped cream. A perfect ending to a long expo day.
Truly a treat, and I’m already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu.

The staff was so friendly and attentive, and the owners are some of the kindest, most genuinely welcoming people you could ever meet. You can truly feel the care and pride they put into every detail.
The food was outstanding. We were served filet mignon and salmon with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and it was mouthwatering. Everything was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious.

I almost don’t want to tell you how great this place is because it is Lansing’s best kept secret. I just love this place too much not to give them a few compliments. The vibe is chill and a tad bit romantic without trying to be. Great for brunch or even drinks with friends. Service is outstanding…especially Abby. The food is delicious, and worth writing about! Just go and try this place for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

Batter Up Bistro has a beautiful interior with a well-thought-out design and cozy atmosphere. We arrived close to closing time, and they mentioned that a large group had been there earlier, so they were out of some menu items, especially bread. While the food was flavorful, the potatoes weren’t fully cooked, and the heavy use of butter made everything feel overly greasy.
Another downside was the lack of service after our food arrived—no one came to check on us to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. With better service and attention to food consistency, this place could be much better.

Food was beautifully platted but minimally seasoned, this could also be because I got the veg omelette. The service we received was top tier. It really served like they love their job. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. I was surprised to find a place like this in Lansing and plan to show my support more! You should consider giving it a try!

We stopped in before the Lugnuts game for dessert and drinks. The atmosphere is fantastic, cozy seats, and warm lighting. The service was top notch, and the dessert and drinks were perfect. We are definitely looking forward to going back for dinner at some point soon, the menu is not very big, but everything on it looks great. Definitely check this out if you are in the area, you won’t regret it.

I love this place!! My son took me here for a late breakfast. Menu is limited; the food is delish. We were served by a very nice young lady by the name of Dulce. There is a full bar as well. The drinks are good but expensive. I had a breakfast sandwich that was the best egg sandwich I’ve ever had. My son had Eggs Benedict and loved them. The ceiling is the old railway ceiling. Architecture old and stunning.

My mom and I were in town for my gymnastics meet and, before training, we decided to stop here for some lunch. The atmosphere is very calm and the aesthetic is perfect. There was a short wait for the food as everything is made on the spot but, trust me, it’s worth it. I ordered the Spicy Life-Changing BLT and it was truly life-changing; probably the best BLT i’ve ever eaten! The bread was buttery and crunchy, the produce was fresh, the bacon was perfectly cooked, and the sriracha sauce tied everything together. 10/10 recommend if you’re ever in the Lansing area.

Beautiful atmosphere. Carmen was great. Food was wonderful and presented lovingly like a Martha Stewart Show. Took a while to get served and took a bit long from the kitchen, maybe they need more staff. Just expect to be here to enjoy conversation and the atmosphere.
