Indio and his son took care of us tonight. We had the garlic shrimp and the breaded shrimp. Both were so good. We started with margaritas that came with extra tequila in case it wasn’t strong enough. Some fresh guacamole and chips came before our meal. So tasty. Our waiter spoke very good English. Indio came out after cooking and explained some of the history of the restaurant.
We were here a couple years ago and it has moved. If you follow Google Maps it will bring you here. Authentic Mexican food at a great price and they treat you like family. I forgot to take pictures of our shrimp, just wanted to dig in

A little hole in the wall. Restaurant was clean and great ventilation. Food was simple and delicious. The seafood soup was tasty as well as the mixto ceviche and tacos. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t the long strand of black hair in the bottom of the ceviche. We did bring it to our server’s attention.

This tiny family-run place was right near our B&B, and we enjoyed it so much we ate there twice in a week. Each time, they brought yummy guacamole to start. We tried their shrimp, octopus and fish tacos, and all of them were perfectly prepared (though you may want to ask for lime with the fish tacos), and their homemade dairy-free horchata was quite yummy as well. Given the quality, US$2 per taco was a steal! (ETA: Their shrimp ceviche is also top-notch.)

Atmosphere is in the eye of the beholder, Casita de Indio is on a busy Avnienda, 20th, and is open walled on 2 sides, so there is traffic noise. If you want a realistic real MX neighborhood experience it is great, if you want a fancy dining room, not so much. The food, service and prices were great. Very friendly family runs it, waiter spoke passable English. Very nice LOCAL restaurant, not a “tourist” restaurant. Coconut and al diabla shrimp were great. The coconut shrimp were very fresh and I got 6 or 7 shrimp. If you want a realistic MX seafood dining experience, this is the place.

We heard people recommending this place. It took me 3 days to find it. Somehow other restaurants had similar names…
My wife ordered coconut shrimps and I had some red snapper filets. Pretty simple cooking but extremely well prepared! We were both very satisfied at this hole in the wall kind of place separated from the street by reused wood pallets… The family is heart centered and welcoming. Certainly a unique place to eat at!

Authentic place, great and fresh food. Our favorite place on Cozumel in two weeks.

Fresh seafood. You can pre-order a fish which is the catch of the day and choose the way they prepare it. They have red snapper, grouper and the lion fish (look at the Pic) as well as fishes I can’t remember now. They even have lobsters sometimes.

The coconut battered prawns are amazing. Sauces / salsas are fresh and well-prepared. Pulpo ajillo or alla diabola is mouth-watering and delicious. Fishes can be fried or prepared in aluminum foil in the oven. Every visit starts with totopos, a delicious guacamole and sometimes pico de gallo.

And Cynthia, the girl who is serving, is just a sunshine, like her brother (how btw is 14 years old, my fellow Germans ).

Perfect value for the money. Ambiente is authentic and it’s a clean clean place for Mexican circumstances. Music is good. Great beer prices btw…

Altogether 5/5. By far the best place to eat amazing sea food on Cozumel – try it and give it a chance, you won’t regret it!

At first we wanted to leave when we saw the place, but then some people at the table looked at us and said we landed at a good spot, so we gave it a shot.

Apparently Indio is something close to a fan club and everyone that goes there once gets obsessed with the place.

I am so glad we stayed and gave it a chance.

Big fan of Indio’s!

I’ve been in Cozumel for 10 days, and I have eaten in more than 12 restaurants. This is without a doubt the best seafood on the island. It’s a small place on a corner with super friendly staff. The chef came out to greet us and explain the special. I highly recommend the Iowa platter. It’s the best deal in town. Local lobster, fish, shrimp prepared three ways, octopus, rice, guacamole…all for a super reasonable price. The margarita was to die for. Also, it’s super strong. And it cost a fraction of what the tourist trap restaurants will charge. We were blown away by this place. If you want an authentic experience, killer food, and friendly faces all at an unbeatable price – this place is for you.
