The service was great! And the food… THE FOOOOOD… was WICKED AWESOME! 10/10 try the Braised Short Ribs! PHENOMENAL!
On the food side, we found plenty to like. After help from our server, we ordered the cauliflower gratin, pear salad and duck confit hash. We were more then pleased with all our choices. I especially enjoyed the variety of tastes that came through in the hash. It was even delicious the next day cold for lunch! The pear salad was unique enough to be special and the cauliflower was delicious and quite filling. There was an impressive list of menu options for a relatively small kitchen. All-in-all, we couldn’t have been happier with Wicked Pig.
DON’T GO HERE if you don’t want splendid cuisine with flair, flavor, and pizzazz! We ordered the royal reds and shrimp, short ribs , pork belly bao buns, and pear & arugula salad. Reds were tender on creamy grits with a dark rich sauce topped w/ the pork belly cracklins …Excellent. Short ribs were teender the sweet potatoes and fingerlings had a slight char…YUM! Bao buns were little pillows of heaven accompanied with a stuffing of rich pork belly “bacon on roids” and kimchi. When I say everything was cooked to perfection and delicious…I mean it. Great flavors priced perfectly for the elevated cuisine served.
Drinks:
We had the Winter Mule and Jalisco Colada. The latter was delicious and Winter mule was superb!
Nothing in BSL can touch it; not even Anthony’s which is good, but overpriced for much of its cuisine. Trapanis, 200, Crabshack runs the same price point as Wicked Pig. They lack consistency and quality of choice and flavor. There’s a new game in town!
Wicked !
Today I was out with friends and when they realized I hadn’t tried it yet, they practically staged an intervention. They went on and on about the food and the vibe, so my husband and I said, “Why wait?” and went tonight.
First things first — and this is important — this is NOT a barbecue joint. Yes, there are a few smoked items, but this place is upscale, creative, and polished from the cocktails to the apps to the entrees.
We started with the cauliflower gratin and I am not exaggerating when I say it may have been the best cauliflower I’ve ever eaten. Like… how is cauliflower doing that?
Next up: brisket bao buns. The buns were so light and delicate, filled with tender brisket, house-made pickles, and all kinds of deliciousness. Absolutely perfect bites.
For our entrée, we split the braised short ribs and WOW. The meat literally melts in your mouth, and don’t even get me started on the carrots, turnips, and potatoes. They were so good I immediately wished I could order them as a side forever.
This place is truly out of the box for this area in the very best way. The food, the atmosphere, the whole experience — just fantastic.
Do yourself a favor and go. I promise you won’t regret it. ✨
